I would have preferred to spend the whole time there too, but I felt bad because he was taking time out from what he wanted to do and spending time with his son (not that his son wanted to spend that much time with him, but stilll....) so I was willing to go. He had to get some souveniers for his daughter at home.

When I went which was about three to fours ago they where doing remolding. They where working on the ballistic missiles and the space expiration area. Plus my class was only there for about a 1/2 hour. I hope to make it back to DC to see it. I did get to see the Challenger memorial at Arlington Nation Cemetery. Plus we saw the Pentagon, The Holocaust Museum, Vietnam and Korea memorials, The US History Museum and The African Art Museum, which is also part of the Smithsonian, Lincoln memorial, and tour DC.

I would overpower my group. My friends know I am obsessed and they would go wherever I wanted to keep me from complaining or something.

I wish there was a NASA type place near where I live. We are more obsessive over the military and airplanes and stuff. North Carolina is big on basketball, guns, and the military. That's about it.

I don't think anyone has as much military as we do around here. We have Langley AFB, Fort Monroe, Fort Story, Fort Eustis, Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk Naval Air Station, Yorktown naval weapons station, Norfolk naval weapons station, and little creek amphibious base. Might be a few more that i cant think of but that gives you ome idea just how influential the military is around here. Infact the NASA Langley Visitor center also serves as the official visitor center for Langley AFB.

The only thing remotely space related in Indiana that I know of is Purdue and that's only because so many of the early astronauts came from there.

Oh we also have an old abandoned fort on an island in the chesapeake bay called Fort Wool. It was part of the coastal defenses up till world war 2 along with Fort Monroe and Fort Story but they couldnt mount anything bigger than 14 inch coastal artillery and the battleships w3ere now mounting 16 inch guns so they became obsolete in that role. Fort Wool was closed and Fort monroe became the headquarters for the Armie's Training and doctrine command.

We have fields, and lots of them. No NASA places and no space places. I live in a fairly northern populated section of North Carolina and its got lots of urbanization going on, and just down the street from me is this guy who painted his house to look like the confederate flag and he has a big sign in his front yard that says the south won the civil war. Everybody is sort of afraid to go talk to him. Welcome to North Carolina.

In Tennesse we have mainly the Ft. Cambell which is the home of the 101st airbone divison and the green brees. But we are about 2 to 4 hrs from Home(Space Camp).

We are totally obsessed with the military in NC. Maybe not as much as you, Jason, but we are obsessed. We have a lot of military type places, but not where I live.

I wish we were peace keepers. There are lots of guns here and it kind of scares me. I dont know how to operate a gun, nor to I care to learn. I would rather us just sit around and do peaceful stuff...although...seeing some of the naked people protest out on the side of the road was funny.

What!?! The Constitution tells you that you should have a gun...

J/K, I don't like guns, either, but I'm sure you see a lot of rednecks with guns up there in NC, big NRA people...
