What's the word on working this summer?

Post by CastAway »

As I'll finally have 2 years of college under my belt and currently lack any plans at all, I figured I'd throw an application Huntsville's way, assuming it's not too late. Any word on the summer shift? Also, anyone know how this would effect going to the big celebrations. I was planning on dropping the $135 (banquet and alumni event) as soon as tickets go on sale (thank God they didn't go on sale and sell out during my hiatus from this place!).

Also, just for reference, what's the employment link?

On the side, a few weeks ago someone mentioned that Space Camp Turkey is still hiring for the summer. Talk to MDanner or visit the new shiny Space Camp Turkey website for details.

A summer in Turkey doing Space Camp stuff still sounds fun to me!

Otherwise, best of luck with your application.

I'd apply to Turkey, except for the fact that I need a full income this summer. So, Huntsville it is!

Sweet... that's quite awesome to hear. I'll be attempting to get my app in this weekend, I hope. I need to figure out who can write my 2 recommendations... that's always the hardest part of filling out job applications (especially when they ask directly for letters). But this is very important to me, so I'll try to get the app in ASAP.

So, I've heard the only way to get days off is to ask way way in advance. How impossible would it be to get like 3 days off in a row? Just wondering...

Yeah, so they usually have hired for the Summer by now (or decided not to at all by this point, as was the case in '03)...

Anyway, it seems they're just a little late on it this year (I'm sure HR is no doubt caught up in various 25th Anniversary details as well), so give them until April sometime.

Bad news they are not hiring till April. When you go to fill out your online app right now the consular position selection is not available. We will have to check it every couple of day until they put it online. I myself filled out the wrong selection and feel like a complete fool.

Wait, so essentially, I have to wait until April to fill out a job app for something I'd start in MAY? That's very, very last-minute, but I'll still do it when the time comes and prepare now, I guess. Finding out I'll be able to do that at the last minute is still better than having to go around town trying to find a job in town...

Update

Post by ApolloXI »

Here is a update on the counselor postion they do not have it up yet but if you live in the area they do have these jobs open Life Gurad and Ropes Course Instructor / Facilitator. I am guessing since they just added those postions I have a feeling that the postion might be up later today or first thing Monday.

Huh, a week's time to respond? That was a very quick claim... anyway, I'm currently working on mine, and should have it in by the end of the week... hopefully it's not too late for me to be considered!

I still need to work on an option B, C, and D... I think I have an option E I just found, but I need to get back to the "real jobs" before I go for E...

Any really cool random job ideas that anyone has? Doesn't have to involve space at all... I just need someplace cool and not typical to work this summer. I'm going to see about working in a National Park...

They do interviews? I assume these are over the phone?

That's pretty intense, only allowing apps as of a week ago and already working on hiring people...
