I dont see why bringing a rocket home would be a problem as long as you dont have engines with it.

my number one tip for newbies would be lotsa film!!! you will want to take pictures every second of every day!! my only regret from space camp is that i didn't take enough pictures. this year i will carry my camera everywhere!! also... lots of money and/or credit card. (the museum gift shop takes credit cards so i just used mine to pay for big stuff.) a ball cap and sunglasses will also come in handy. also, before i went i got something to carry change in and went to the bank and got like $10 in quarters. they come in handy with the vending machines(and for bets on 4 square!) you can also bring big bags of candy from walmart and eat them with everyone in your edm. in short, you're going to space camp... splurge!!

also... as far as film goes, you will be taking both indoor and outdoor shots(mostly indoor.) a high speed film like 100 speed would be good outside but definately not indoors. a better compromise might be 200 speed which will do great outdoors and better inside (200 is a good all-purpose film) a good flash is essential on indoor shots. if you dont have a camera, go to walmart and youll find some pretty good ones for under $30. if you plan on using it alot, this will be cheaper than disposables in the long run.

Thats verry good advice on all counts Matt. I wish id brought more film with me and i took alot. And everytime my team had a chance we took some group shots. Definately get some group shots when you get chances. Our team was so close and such good friends we got group shots together as much as possible during the week at ASA. I just wish id had a better camera at space camp so my pictures would have turned out.

:D Thank you, thank you...

Last year i took 4 rolls of 100 speed film with me and only took 22 pictures. The outdoor shots turned out great but the inddor shots(i.e. the MOCR, etc.) were terrible(Space Camp has alot of dim lighting indoors; the Hab, Museum, MOCR etc.). This year i will probably take 200 speed as this is what i use at home and it works well in almost all lighting. And i will take(and use) a hecka lot more film!! And Money. I am like a kid in a candy store in the Gift Shop. Leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs. You will want to get something for your friends and family, too (i know you dont want to, but you have to! Besides, they have a good selection of refrigerator magnets!)

I was lucky the last time i went i had a good size duffel bag for my clothes. And it had plenty of room for souvenirs. I got shirts, a space pen, patches and a few other things i dont remember specificaly. If i had the room and money id have bought the whole gift shop.

At ASa we only got one chance to go to the gift shop. I hated that. All the other years we got several chances to go and everytime i went i always bought something when i was their. Oh well their loss of my money i guess but i'd like to have had more chances to go and we had plenty of oppurtunities we could have gone instead of playing stupid card games.

We had about the same amount of time in the gift shop but its nice to have more than one chance to go incase you decide you should have bought something else that you didnt the first time.

My suggestion would be look at the shop section on the space camp website. That will show you atleast some of the stuff available in the giftshop there as well as the prices.

That's probably the best thing to do. Things run from $1 (keychains) to $100+ for some clothing items (such as the flight jacket).

The store is really awesome. They have lots of cool things to buy. If you are shopping for someone older, younger or for yourself, there is always something cool. I love how tax is included! Oh and my personal favorite, the t-shirts, run at anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars. I noticed most of mine were 13 or 15...

oh i love that gift shop. my favorite thing i got there is a clear blue nasa mug..thats not shaped like a normal coffee mug its kinda shorter and rounder and fatter idk. i like to eat soup out of it. it was lke 15. then they have space food and stuff which i bought for my brothers.
i like the tshirts too. the one i got is too big though. and it hardly shrunk when i washed it but they didnt have any kids sizes in the one i wanted so oh well.
i like the free asa shirt you get too. but people made fun of me when i wore it at practice
i think $100 is a good amount to bring for spending at camp. i spent about that between airport stuff, gift shop, and vending machines. i think i spent more my first time though..
