We were playing hide and seek for the Apollo 15 activity so you weren't with us for that. When Arlisa saw that the counselor let Sara, Hillary and me loose in the museum she was scared.

I like having something to read and think about over lunch time. :P

Excited much? Who; not me! I'm not even attending the 8-day camp! ;)
Most of day 6 and 7 can not be posted at this time. When I get home I'll post if Nathaniel hasn't already.

Chris:- You're having your wisdom teeth surgery the week before Space Camp? Oh my! The swelling is bearable, but they probably won't let you SCUBA with stitches. (Not to mention you aren't allowed to suck on anything, regulators included, for four weeks.) Sorry for the bad news, but you could be lucky and having your wisdom teeth out might not be such a big thing.

On the cheery side of things, I'm guessing Days 6 and 7 of special session were scheduled for the 24-hour EDM. I'll be patient and wait until the last special session is over before I start asking for too many details about it. I could always ask my counsellors while I am there in August. I do not want to come off too annoying though, to anyone.

okay, i had mine out like three weeks ago. and i HATED when people were like omg, thats gonna be horrible. sooo, these are my words of wisdom (pun intended)...

get baby food in the house before you get your teeth out.
have a place to sleep made up before you get home. make sure you have tons of pillows, a comfy blanket and the area is something upright (like a lazyboy chair).
have a lot of icecream, popsicles and milk to make your own shakes. (though you cant have dairy for like 4 hours after.)
have a squirt water bottle next to you. this way, you can squeeze the bottle to get water and still continue to drink fluids, but you dont have to suck on a straw (a BIG no-no) or have a rush of water.
something i found useful, put apple juice/water/fruit drinks into the freezer for like an hour. it gets really cold and feels good to put on the stitches.
when youre on the pain killers, it may feel okay to eat something hard (personally, i had a hard dinner roll...lol) ...dont! it rips your stitches.
DONT clench your teeth! (saves you TONS of extra pain!)

other than that, its not that big of deal...
just remember, two weeks, and all the pain is over. have fun!
vicodin is ALWAYS a blast! i took finals while on it! :D

Don't forget: the biggest source of pain is due to swelling. Thus, the less swelling, the less pain. Get some ice packs and throw them in the freezer. 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off from the moment you get home for the first day or two.

I had to eat Alpha-Ghetti and Zoodles for four weeks because I couldn't eat solid foods, but my beau could eat solid foods less than 48 hours after his came out. Talking to my mates, they all say blokes have it pretty easy: less swelling, less pain, and they're back to normal pretty quick.

So... back on topic... yes... how about that 8-day camp? Was there any time to visit AC and do some of their fun stuff? (I'm sure this varies week to week, as with the normal programme.)

My teeth naturally grew in straight and left enough room for my wisdom teeth.... my sister got her wisdom teeth out like 2 months ago and hated me for a month afterward. 8)

The thing that drives me most is that people tell me that ill never be an astronaut. My love and passion for space will lead me to new heights, hopefully back to the moon or mars.

I do not know if you would call this a spoiler or not, but if you do, please reply in the spoiler thread:

Did you have to wear the orange flight suits for your EDM? Do the ASA trainees have to wear the orange suits for launch and re-entry, or is that only for the Academy trainees in the Intrepid?

(It's more of a general question than an 8-day specific one.)

I do not know if the 6 day wore the orange suits but the 8 day did wear something special. I'm going to leave it as a surprise for the next session.
