It's been a good 8 or 9 months since I went, and I'm still suffering from withdrawal... it's bad enough that I have to suffer through the rest of school before I can go again! It's a huge bummer... but yeah, I definitely know the feeling. I dread having these feelings after the very last time I can go.

Don't even talk about space camp withdrawal guys. At least you guys have plans to return. Right now my parents won't even consider it, and when I mention to my mom how much I miss it she just tells me to stop acting like a baby.

Hmm... try to get them to go on the really cheap price deal next time around... maybe they'll go for that.

And heck... we all know we'll all be counselors a few years after our last camp... I may just make that my full-time job eventually.

Tried it. Didn't work. They think I'm just being really immature.

Wait... does that mean that they think Space Camp is immature? If so, then they're insane... professions in the space program are perfectly legitemate.

Try telling that to them, my dad always seems disappointed in me b/c I want to work in the space industry. He doesn't feel the job market is "secure". I frankly don't care, it's what I love, but he's the one with the money to pay for college right now.(Not that they plan on paying for any of my college tuition)

Geez... that's horrible. The space program has so many jobs within it, and it's not like they're firing people by the minute or anything. Exactly which field are you aiming for? I'm aiming for astronomy/physics, and my parents are supportive...

Don't lose hope and don't give up.

The span of time between my Camp adventures was recently 12 years. 1989, 1991, 2003. My parents understood my obsession, which led to my going to Camp and Academy I in 89/91, but over the years they never quite understood my connection with that experience. I don't think they do still, but they didn't question my spending the money to go last year, even though I had lost my job, just come back from Europe and hadn't really gotten back in the groove yet.

Space Camp is special and for me it was a dream to go. Luckily, I've been able to do that 3x. That's mere drops in a bucket for many around here, but for me each will always be special.

Heed your parents thoughts, but remember, YOU must take charge of your own life and only YOU can live it.

You're out of line, coffeediver. No two ways about it. Your post was meanspirited and unnecessary.

As much as I hate to use such a cliche, if, in the future, you have nothing nice to say, please don't say anything.

I think he meant it more as a joke. Lighten up. This is a place for us to post our comments either good or bad. Remember that not all opinons posted on here are good. We all have opioons about what is said both good and bad.

While I'm the first one to admit (and often get frustrated by) how difficult it can be to convey tone well in plain text, it did not seem as if he was joking.

That being said, while comments of all sorts are welcome here, derogatory comments regarding someone's love, respect, and longing for Space Camp are in bad form and shouldn't be vocalized here.

My two cents: move on

Post by Benji »

geez, imagine my surprise to log on and find this... I didn't even know what was being refered to until I went back, probably 'cause I had read it as a joke, too.

Looking back, it seems to be a ha, ha, o/s joke, the type of thing that I've been known to write from time to time. Perhaps in hindsight, coffeediver realized how his post might upset some people, as I have in the past.

Okay? We should all proof-read our posts to consider everyone else and that's that.
