Apollo 1 Anniversary

Well guys this anniversary is upon us again. 36 years ago tonight during the plugs out tests for the Apollo 1 mission Astronauts Virgil I Grissom, Edward H. White, and Roger B Chaffee were killed when fire swepth through the command module. Just thought i'd take a moment to remind people of the anniversary and hope everyone will never forget their sacrifice only some of many that led us to the moon.

Yep...and tomorrow doesn't get any happier either with regard to the history of manned space flight...

Well, I don't have an opinion either way, but an objective board may be able to uncover more of the truth. Sabotage or not, that spacecraft was flawed. If it hadn't been Apollo 1, it could have been another mission. Think of the terrible PR if Neil Armstrong had blown up on the way back from the Moon...

It was a very interesting page. I'm not sure how i feel actually i kinda feel almost like they are trying to hard to find something, but then again i guess if my father was killed in an accident like such i might want to investigate it a little.

Well i know a lady who is working with Grissom's son to get the review of the accident. I was actually suprised to see that she wasnt mentioned on that website. I've seen some of her research and believe me she has done extensive work right dfown to the wiring layout of the block 1 cm. Shes gone through the apollo block 1 com operations mannual in agonising detail. I don't know if i believe in the whole sabotage theory but alot of the evidence does point to some kind of coverup. Some of her work has gone as far as to look into the autopsy reports which from what shes said dont all add up either. I'm not saying their was sabotage the apollo block 1 cm had some serious flaws but i think the possibility of some kind of coverup is real.

I think theres a lot of evidence that points to something....but im not sure if its a cover up. I think that they show the plates and everything but it could have just been faulty workmanship i dont know it just seems a little odd.

im sorry, im gonna sound dense. but isn't a roll switch used once the object is in flight? what does that have to do with the fire that began before the rocket ever got off of the ground? i think im lost, and baffled.

As long as it had power running through it it could have sparked that fire. I dunno much about that AS-204 test, but I don't think the switch had to be used to set it off, especially if there was sabotage involved (which I'm not implying there was, just mentioning the possibility).

Yeah a short (wheather intentionally started or not) really dosnt require that the object be in use just that it has electricity running to/through it right? I guess I can see both sides of the fight, obviously Scott would want to find out what happend to his father but it does seem like hes trying really hard to find things. I am not sure I have any room to say anything though as i dont know nearly as much about the Apollo 204 capsule as he does.

oh, i get it...that's where his son thinks the short was? cause when i learned about it, i was told there was a short in one of the mile long wires or something like that that was coiled under their seats. hmm, interesting, cause that's what i learned from nasa, but scott thinks its something way different...hmmmm, *pensive stare*...we'll figure this one out!

it is kinda interesting though. i mean, i don't believe anyone was murdered, but some things definitely look suspicious.

Could these simply be manufacturer flaws in the spacecraft. I mean, I've heard that NASA and the astronauts weren't thrilled b/c of the shoddy workmanship that they were seeing. Just a thought.
