Anyway, I just posted my Area 51 anecdote on my site, but I'm gonna pass on posting it here because it involves some measure of PDA-breakage.
 Hey Benji you forgot all about me being on Team Hab One. I guess I was just a space ghost to you who helped hold Sara and Hillary up.

New Year's eve

Post by ApolloXI »

Lets just say New Year's eve was like walking into h*#l. All week the team started to split into clicks. There where the Dark Side people, the ones sitting on the fence, the mature people, and the misunderstood people. Sara (Ms. Kick me sign on back with duck tape on her butt in a X), Hillary and Ian are some of the Dark Side. Benji was one of the people who hoped back and forth. Chris R. and I Chris K where two of the people you could call mature. There was a group of individuals that where not really understood. Sydeny was one of them but she had surpised us all when I also had a heart attack during launch, she turned into Super Pilot. She jumped from pilot and commader panel with ease and just pushed me out of the way if I was in it. Arlisa was glad that I was on her team b/c I was more mature I guess you would say. If anyone has listened to A Prairie Home Companion http://www.prairiehome.org/ you know that they talk about Scandivan Lutherans (which I am one) that live in the Midwest are very mostly mature and quite. That is me.
Now back to New Year's eve. The whole team was extremely tired and the various problems in the week where now exploding in our faces. Plus who in the their mind would have teens celebrate New Year's eve when they have a EDM the next day. One person had really gotten to me but I was able control myself and kick his can during the AC sims. I moved out of the way like a gazelle being chased by a lion, he never got a single shot at me so that was kind of revenge. But I learned just to ingore him and get one with life, I did bost that he never got me. On New Year's eve I had to sleep in sick bay b/c I was afraid that I might do something that would sending me packing for the first flight out of Huntsville. I also just needed one night of personal space while I was sleeping.

Yeah, on the day of New Years Eve, we pushed the envelope way too far. McGruff had us reel it back in and that was good. Last year, though, we got to stay up until midnight, after the kiddies went to bed when the ball dropped in NY. Oh, well. It wasn't such a big deal, but I never did get to see the end of Finding Nemo. I think I know how it turns out, anyway...

i agree with you Chris, the group was separating in to clicks, but after Jason talked to us, i think we TOTALLY came back together. Now maturity, that might be a different issue. I mean, i see why doin the whole "we will rock you" and "we are teh champions" looked a bit childish, but it was still really fun, and i think it really did bring the team closer together. i just think sometimes, even mature people have to act funny now and then.

anyways, today i rememberd the FUNNIEST thing that happened to me at camp. cant go into too much detail...but if i say "camera incident in the orbiter" that involced a certain someone takin off her EVA suit...well, you prolly kmow what i mean....god i hate those cameras...

I mean overall i felt that the team was unified however there were some things that sepreated us such as everything on new years eve. THough another thing that made me feel seperated was area 51 it was really only two groups hab1 and not. Also meals seemed to be seperated like the "popular" people sat down by the consoulr and the not so popular ones sat at the end and were left out. Dont get me wrong i had a wicked fun time im jsut saying that there were a couples times felt left out.
The thing that drives me most is that people tell me that ill never be an astronaut. My love and passion for space will lead me to new heights, hopefully back to the moon or mars.

But doing somewhat silly stuff here and there makes things fun! The camera incident in the orbiter was hilarious!!! I love those cameras.

Yeah since theres only two of us Von T'ers. We need to come up with some good stories to compete with the plethora of Von B Hab 1'ers.
