Well 3 more days till the anniversary of the first flight but a little bit of FYI for today. 100 Years ago today on the sands of Kitty Hawk Orville and Wilbur made the first attempt at a powere flight. However the pilot which one it was i can't remember pulled up too sharply losing control and crashing the flyer damaging it too much to attempt another flight for 3 days.

Well here we are 100 years and counting. In only a little over 30 minutes will be the 100th anniversary of the first flight. Unfortunately Bush didn't come through in his speech as far as announcing anything regarding a return to the moon or going to Mars. But looks like the weather which is lousy at the moment may clear in time to get the reenactment of the first flight in around 10:35 am est.

Well it didn't happen atleast not yet. at 10:35 est when the reenactment was supose to take place the weather wasn't good so it was postponed till 2 this afternoon. Then the weather cleared they made an attempt to fly the replica at about 12:30 est however just as the plane started to lift the right wing dipped and ended up in a puddle of water bringing the plane down. The ground crew is evaluating the damage and are hoping to try to make another attempt sometime this afternoon.

Ok the flyer is undergoing some minor repairs and they are going to make a second attempt. It might still be a little while before they do it but they are going to try again. The flyer only had some minor damage. They are going to reposition the rail and try again. More updates to come.

Well unfortunately it didnt haoppen. They did repair the plane and get it out on the rail unfortunately the wind needed to be 10 knots minimum to fly and all they had was 3. Its a dissapointment especially after all the work that was put into the replica. But it has flown in the last few weeks and tonight at 8 pm ESt on discovery channel they will be showing some of the earlier test flights. They had been scheduled to show todays flights but since none happened they wont beable to.

Lewis Black's "Back in Black" commentary last night on The Daily Show was quite funny and he touched on many acheivements (sp) of flight over the past 100 years. I'm hoping they put it on the Internet soon.
