Happy Birthday

Post by Benji »

:D It's the 17th, so happy birthday to Eden (Space Camp Brainiac)'s friend, Dr. Thirsk! :D

:D Also, Story Musgrove was born on August 19th. He was very active in Skylab and he flew many shuttle flights, including Challenger's maiden voyage and the first Hubble servicing mission. :D

He helped fix Hubble! You know, I'd be pissed if I were him. He trained for years and risked disaster to fix this thing that's been invaluable to scientists around the world, and they're just gonna let it rot. :(

He rode the orbiter back in during reentry (not on the outside lol....he stood up and braced himself with his arms on the ceiling). Any man crazy enough to think that sounds like fun should have our respect. lol

I didn't know that. Sounds like a fun little stunt. Did NASA know about this?

What I meant was: Did NASA approve it or know about it before reentry, or did they find out later?

the way Ed always told it: it was his last mission and he took the whole "what are they gonna do....fire me???" approach. And from reading about Story i really dont doubt it all that much. And usually Ed is really good about knowing all his facts before he says anything.

My birthday

Post by ApolloXI »

My birthday was last week August 14th. I am now a legal adult who can't wait to go to Space Camp. Some would find that odd.

I was a legal adult when I went to camp in July. I will turn 19 just over a month after I get back from Christmas Camp.

Today was a busy day for astronauts' mothers. Among many others, Ed White, Fred Haise, and Ken Bowersox were born on this day in the past. Also, Apollo 12 was launched today in 1969. What an electrifying flight. :)
