Multi trip campers

Post by Boomerang »

This is just an observation but from what i can tell there seems to be an increase in multi trip campers since i went. I mean when i went to camp in 91 noone on my tam had ever been before. Same with Academy in 93 and only 3 of my team had AC had been before including me. Asa we had 4 of us who had been before. But then on this forum i see people who have gone every year for several years now. What kind of numbers have you guys had who have been before on your teams i'm just curious. I mean it has been 5 years since my last trip maybe there has been an upswing in the number of repeat campers.

I dont know about everyone, but ive noticed that most of the people are returning and first timers are in the minority, which is fun because you can get a team where everyone is already proficient in how to do things, but it is also the source of the issues with the decline in interest. Thats my whole take on the thing

I have seen the same increase in the number of returning campers. I used to be just about the only one on my team that has gone but now it seems that it is split half and half. I am also usually the one on my team that has gone the most times, but this past trip there was someone who had been 9 times compared to my 8. But I definately have noticed that more and more people are coming back.

Speaking of going back, I cannot wait until CHRISTMAS CAMP! Woo hOo!

I think one reason is that parents aren't letting their kids go away by themselves as much anymore. If you've gone to space camp before, then you've probably traveled by yourself and you parent my be less hesitant, they know what to expect. That's my theory, anyway.

I just went to camp (Aug 2-8) and there were only about 3 people in all the teams that had gone before... usually there are a couple people that have gone before, but this time I was the only one on my team... It does make it kind of difficult that no one has any clue what they're doing...

I get that at AC, im usually stuck with the team of rookies. Its fun though, makes it easier come Top Gun. but at ASA most of the people on my teams were there before.

This year there were lots on mine and Ethan's team who had been before. Last year there were about 5 or 6 on my team who had been before and I don't remember for my first year.
