College's

My mom doesn't want me to go to College very far from home either. Her reasoning is that Georgia Tech is one of the top Aerospace engineering schools in the country, and it's in state tuition. The problem with going to Tech is I HATE GEORGIA!!!!!!
I'm leaving for New Orleans tomorrow to look at Tulane
I'm excited!!!

That sounds familiar. I went through the same thing with my family only the school they were pushing for was Purdue. I won though....cheshire wrote:My mom doesn't want me to go to College very far from home either. I've had a lot of possibilities and even though I know my parents want me close to home, they promised to support me where ever I decide to go. I wasn't sure how true they meant that until I gave one option that I figured my mom would shoot down right away. Though there was dead silence in the car when I said it, and she's trying to convince me that it's not right for me, she said that if that's where I want to go, she'll support me. Quite the surprise it was for me to hear that.

Just my 2 cents, but go to GATech. You can't beat a "free" GATech education! It's a good school, with a good reputation. The people seemed pretty friendly, also when I visited Tech a few years ago. In hindsight, I probably should have gone there...and I wouldn't have gotten the waiver!cheshire wrote:My mom doesn't want me to go to College very far from home either. And if it's really that bad once you get there, you could probably transfer out later....
Ok well just don't come to my school. the professors are good and the education you get is good but the only thing the school cares about these days is getting bigger and trying to take over the city of Newport News atleast thats what ity seems like as much as their growing. Sadly the students sometimes get the short end opf the stick in all this. But then i doubt any of you have heard of Christopher Newport University anyway. If we could just get a new president who cares more about the students then he does about building new buildings as far as the eye can see we would be alright.

I've heard of CNU . Then again, I live in Hampton Roads so....I'll bet you're the only one here who's heard of Old Dominion University (except possibly some old basketball fans).
So stargazer0105...does this mean you officially picked UAH? I haven't been up on the posts lately Congrats to everyone who survived picking a college. Enjoy the rest of senior year!

I understand that Georgia Tech is a great school, but I have lived in Atlanta all my life and I really don't like the city. I don't know; I'm still applying there, but I don't know if I'll be able to stand it there for four years.
Why does college hunting have to be so complicated?
