Mission Center Complex

Good Day All:
While searching the internet at lunch I came across a tour of the new Training Center Floor. The information is from March 2004, and more recent photos have been linked to, but there are some good points made:
http://www.tsbvi.edu/space/mcc-tour_files/frame.htm
Some infro from the "tour":
They say the new facilities are more accessible, but I really don't see how. There is mention of a ramp, although I cannot see it anywhere. They should really come up with a way for persons in wheelchairs to come to camp, even if it is for a special week like "Space is Special" or "SCIVIS".
The TCF is now known as the Mission Center Complex, or MCC. The lights around the area will brighten and dim every 45 minutes to simulate orbiting the Earth.
There is a map of the new MCC area, showing which simulators are where, and which programmes will be using which simulators.
It is extremely crowded now. I presume the AstroTrek bubble is used by all programmes for the MAT, 1/6th gravity, and 5DF trainers. It will be a busy place! I hope this new layout will not hinder the flow of people during the busy summer months.
Finally, those who are at camp now, please make comments here. Is anything mentioned in this post, or in the tour, that is not true? Can you elaborate more on some of these points? I'm sure you will hilight it all in your gazillion posts when you return, I'm sure!

It'd be nice if the photos in that powerpoint thingy worked, but whatever. Yeah.. the TCF is all nice and stuf (no one calls it MCC, didn't hear that the whole week). And, we got to get a test run on the ramps and whatnot because a certain person broke her leg... and apparently it is well set up... even though it's probably hard to climb into things if you're fully disabled. Dunno though. But it does look nice! I can definitely tell you that. The new modules are awesome... there are now like 3 different places to go for station! It's some really cool stuff. I don't know if I got any good angles on it all with my camera... I'll probably go get my photos developed tomorrow, though.

Oh yeah... another thing, the pin lights or whatever they called the stars are not set up to dim for the light phase yet. However, the main lights are rigged to do that.

It's actually different even from those photos. Those modules just sitting around outside aren't there anymore... some have probably been moved inside, whereas others are still sitting outside, but over in the top right (treating the Pathfinder as upright) corner of the Pathfinder area. So there are probably a few new ones inside since those photos were taken, although I'm not sure. All I can say is that as station crew we went to at least three different modules, four if you count hydroponics (which has its own module).

It has its own STATION MODULE!!!! I'm sure the camp and academy kids go there for hydroponics class, and probably advanced academy too, except our week didn't have very many briefings at all... however, we did go in there at one point... but I'll let you find that one out for yourself.

Will there be somewhere where you can post spoilers for us who will not be able to attend a special session? Or will I have to wait until all the special sessions are over? (When are all the special sessions over anyway; Christmas?)

Sure... I'll start a "spoiler request thread" for those of you who aren't going, and you can ask whatever you want.

Her leg was not broken. Her team dropped her in Area 51 and she sprained it.

Yeah... same thing, except different. Sorry, I misspoke... her ankle was sprained, as Laura said.

I got tossed into one of those tubes and my knee got all cut up. It wasnt bad but then it got infected and i refused to go see hte nurses because they would probably take me to the ER. They overreact to everything. But yeah i got home and it was all nasty and kinda scary so we used a lot of antiseptic. Thats my area 51 story lol.

I never got to be in Area 51 because I went to X-Mas camp the two times I went.
