AC related model

Post by Boomerang »

Well today i picked up an F-14 model and the Decals for the Red Rippers Squadron to go along withit. I'll finnally have my own Red Ripper F-14. Best part was i got it for free. By boss at the air and space center and i were talking about model building the other day and i mentioned wanting to pick up a F-14 and get the4 decals for the Red Rippers to go with ithe said he had an unopened kit and the decals and said he'd give them to me. Granted he has something like 900 models waiting to be built. He has actually built Tomcats for every squadron in the Navy. as well as many other aircraft. I have another model in front of it maybe 2 depending on if i decided to do another one first after the one i'm currently working on but i'll post the pictures of the model when its done though that may be a while.

I used to build those, i loved them. I reached a point i started making these intricate custom lighting systems for the cockpit and aircraft light using all kinds of fiber optics and stuff, it was fun. My personal favorite is a 2.5 foot long model of a F-14 from VF-124. Unfortunately it is in need of repairs as it was too heavy for my hanging hook on my ceiling.

Well i dont have any experiance with fiber optics and since this tomcat model is only 1/72 scale it would be a little toughj to light it anyway. I ussualy prefer 1/48 scale but hey the model was free so i cant be too picky lus i do have an already built shuttle orbiter and a F-15 kit on the same scale so they can hang together and my 1/48 scale planes can hang together. Right now i'm working on a 1/48 scale B-17G model/ Its actually my second B-17 the other is already hanging but is a F modeli also have 2 P-51 mustangs hanging near the B-17 F and with a space for the B-17G. It should look cool when its all done.
