eh, ive decided im going to start into senior slide a little early.
ive finished the camp paper (supposed to be 3 pages. its 4. i have a feeling ill get docked.)
now...im writing a poisonwood bible paper. anyone want to help?!?
and im finishing a death of a salesman paper that was due about, oh, a little over two months ago.
so here i sit. one astronomy paper down, one and a half english papers to go (ive started the death of a salesman paper finally). one poem for two voices i have to write alone (ironic isn't it?) cause my friend is busy. a play no one is going to prepare for. (kinda makes me happy cause i didn't want to practice.) a presentation on the space race (YAY!!!!!!) that my presentation partner knows nothing about. so now i have to teach her everything i know in 10 mins before class. and a history paper about the sixties.
i LOVE the end of the school assignments we given!
FOUR DAYS LEFT!!! THREE OF EACH CLASS!!!

This information is for informative purposes only. Please do not copy it for a report or whatever you may be using it for. Most, if not all, of this information can be found in the camp handbook or on the Space Camp website. I am merely providing a quick overview of the simulators and briefings for those who are curious... Maybe this post should be in the First Timers folder?
Briefings vary with the different tracks:
SCUBA Orientation
Shuttle Basics
Rocketry
Naviagtion Systems (Pilots)
Space Medicine (old PS)
Careers in Space
... I have the whole list at home...
Very simple/basic explainations you can build off of:
(someone correct me if I'm wrong, or if you want more information I can get it to you tomorrow if you ask for it by tonight.)
G-Force is a centrifuge that generates centrifugal/centrifical forces to simulate 3 times the force of gracity. Basically, it feels like you're standing on Jupiter. (Research centrifuges for more information.)
Space Shot accelerates you into the air using air pressure. When you stop accelerating upwards, and when you start to free-fall, you experience microgravity.
The MAT, as described in the movie, Space Camp, is three concentric circles rotating in different directions. This simulates a spacecraft falling out of control. You cannot get dizzy on the MAT because you never spin the same direction twice in a row. You also cannot get an upset stomach from the MAT because your stomach is strategically placed at the centre of the simulator, essentially never moving. In fact, the forces from the MAT pull things back into your stomach, thus preventing anything ever coming out... (lovely thought, isn't it?)
1/6th gravity chair uses springs on the ceiling to counteract the forces of Earth's gravity. The springs are arranged in such a way that it simulates walking on the Moon.
Five Degrees of Freedom simulator uses a mechanism similar to an air hockey table so that it floats on a thin layer of air. This thin layer of air allows one to effortlessly move across the floor, demonstrating Newton's law of physics: every action has an equal and oposite reaction. Oh yeah, and it rotates ina bunch of other directions for the 5 degrees... (Research 'degrees of freedom' for more information)
UAT uses buoyancy to counteract gravity. Using standard SCUBA equipment and BCDs one can adjust the buoyancy so that it completey counteracts the effects of gravity. Thus, you will not sink, nor will you float. This simulates microgravity.
If you want to include Intrepid, Enterprise, Station, or MOCR as simulators, you'll have to think up some information about those.

the poisonwood bible paper is a creative writing piece from nathan's view. from all i can tell, the sparknotes were quite boring. lol! plus i was gone for the majourity of the discussions. again, this woman is CRAZY!!! it had to be 1.5 pages SINGLE spaced, times new roman, size 10 font, with standard margins. im sorry, but there just isn't enough to talk about. i followed all guidelines except the font size. its 11.
how does tish explain the mat?
and thank you for informing me that we're aren't the same people. i keep getting us confused because i think we're so much alike!
dude, like a month and we get to spend a week together!!!

excuse me...ahhhwooohooo!!!!! im done with the poisonwood bible paper!!!!!!
only a history paper remaining that im writing half about the space race, half about the cultureish of i love lucy. lol. i know. im a girl. lol.
it was funny. my mom asked me if i hadn't picked the space race, what would i have done? and i told her i love lucy or the burst (no pun intended) of barbie. and my moms like isn't that kinda shallow? so today, these people the fashion of the 60s. it was funny. they talked about eye shadow. the funniest part was watching them struggle to get a connection to the political themes of the time.

So you did half the paper on the space race, and half on I love lucy? Im interested to know how you managed to tie those two together in the same paper.

it was good. you could totally tell it was by a new producer.
yeah, i miss oliver too. hes kinda cute. lol.
and i miss richard harris (the original albus).
i think its interesting if you compare the excitement for the books vs the movies. i was at the midnight release of the fifth book last year. (i took the little girl i babysit.) there were parties and people dressing up, plus like over a thousand people there. at the movies, it wasn't even close to being full. like half the seats were taken. ...interesting...lol.
