Help FIT or UAH

I have been accepted to both University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). If anybody who goes to either of these schools please help me decide what is better. If you know someone who goes to one of them have him or her e-mail me. I am stuck on which on to chose. Everybody post and say what they think about them.

FIT was my #1 choice for a really long time. and in january when i got all my acceptances i still thought it was my # 1. i visited it and loved it, if you havent visited yet, do. then i went and visited clarkson university and fell more in love so thats where i'll be next year.
but anyway, i was also accepted into UAH and FIT. if i had to choose between the two i would have chosen FIT without a doubt. i know UAH is a lot cheaper, but that should not be a deciding factor on where you go to school. the community of melbourne florida is really nice. the school is in a quiet lil residential place, not too far from the beach. if you want to fly they have a great flight program, when i visited we took a flight over the ocean it was awesome.
what is your major going to be? i have the email addresses of a few people that go to FIT that i talked to when i thought i was going to go there if you want those, theyre from new england like me. and i know matt (orion from this forum) goes to UAH.
the biggest plus for UAH i would say is having Space Camp/ the Space/rocket center right there.
when do you have to decide by?

My major will be aerospace engineering. I only have less than two weeks to decide.

Do you like them both?

Do they both seem like nice places to spend four years of your life?

Do they both have respectable programs for your chosen field of study?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, you should, in my opinion, just go for the one that will cost the least. Your wallet will thank you later!

think about which kind of location you would be more comfortable in, the cityish atmosphere of huntsville, or melbourne which is also a city but smaller.
think about the size of the school. i dont know how big your high school is, but mines pretty small, so when i was chosing a school i was trying to find a small school, which will actually seem huge compared to what i'm used to.
UAH has about 5000 undergraduate students compared to FIT's 2100.
compare your financial aid packages, and think about what you are going to be getting for the money that you have to invest in this.
Consider traveling, FIT is probably farther away than UAH for you, so think about how you would get to and from campus for your breaks and everything. both schools let you have a car, if you'd want to drive yourself.
do you know anyone in the area of either school? it could be comforting to be away from home, but know that someone familiar isn't far away if you want them.
one last point for FIT, it is not far at all from the cape, you would be able to see the launches from not too far away. when i visited the tour guide was talking about going up to the top of some building to watch. i think that would be pretty cool.
i'm sure that whichever school you decide on will be the right choice for you, and that you will be very happy there.

I have made my final decision. Drum roll please!!!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Florida Institute of Technology. I chose it because of I will be able to dual major in both Aerospace engineering and space science. Plus I also can get my private flying licence. When I visted UAH a while back ago the President of Engineering told us that they where having problems with the Math Department because the Math Department was teaching studnets as if they where all math majors, meaing in that the engineers where being taught stuff that had no practical applications with the engineering majors. UAH is about three years away from getting a aerospace accreditation.

i really liked FIT. if i decide that things arent going to work out for me at clarkson, that is where i would transfer.

YAY! And it's home to FITcon, a small anime convention =)

It's a really nice campus. I'd never been out there until the convention this past month and it was indeed quiet. They had some nice displays too of things they were doing in the engineering buildings.

There is one big problem.
Price About $27,000
and is still need to my a computer and printer in a state with 9.25% sales tax. I rather buy it here so I can put some of my stuff I have here on it.

yeah i have that whole money problem thing too. my school is almost 37000,, and they gave me 20000 which means ill have 17000 of loans. woah.

buy a computer online. i don tthink i paid tax on mine when i did that.
is the 9.25% tax on everything? its only 6% tax on stuff here, 9%on prepared food.

Check out http://compusaauctions.com for any computer stuff, it's all pretty cheap if you don't mind refurbished and they're reliable because it's CompUsa.

yes it is on everything except on things like flour, sugar, vegetable, and any candy bar that contains flour.

Early tuesday moring I will leave to vist FIT. I will be back Friday. On Wedensday I will be at KSC, thursday I have vist the campus because the engineering deparment is open for tours.

I am sorry I forgot to write. I had lots of fun at FIT. The department head of Engineering labs was like a kid in a candy store when talking about the things the school has. They have I think over 168 sum odd labs, everything from a electronics lab to a wind tunnel. The senouir project is done group creating anything from a conercte cannoe to a rocket that you luanch with the Air Force tracking if it goes a mile of course they shoot it down. The group involes more then just engineering students. The school has several pantents one being something to do with fiber-optics.
