Space Camp Advertising

Post by Boomerang »

Well i was looking through the 2004 NASCAR press guide today and i was suprised to see an ad for space camp. It wasnt verry big and the pictures were some of the same ones we've seen year after year but atleast they are advertising. I wish they could use some more recent pictures though. I swear the kids in this ad were on the front of my 1998 brochue it was a gy in a space camp flight suit and a girlk in an aC flight suit and there were a few other small pictures as well. Noe new though. Some of the kids in some of the pictures space camp uses on their website are probably old enough to almost send their kids to camp now. I think its time they update a bit.

Well NASCAR is one of the most popular spectator sports in america now. So its not that suprising they would advertise in one of their publications. And it does attract fans of all ages i've been a fan for 12 years since i was 12 years old shortly after i came back from camp the first time.

I'm sure it has something to do with the fact the museum will be showing the new NASCAR IMAX film in the next few months. I know they purchased alot of advertising in the last race in Talladega (sp?)

Discovery Kids

Post by SpaceCanada »

If anyone has Discovery Kids channel on their TV, they may have noticed a show called "Adventure Camp" that premiered yesterday at 7:30 PM Mountain time. (I hear it premiered a week earlier in the USA than it did in Canda... but minor details...)

It is a show about these kids (about 12-14 year old I'm guessing?) go to a camp at SeaWorld Florida. They learn to take care of animals, learn about the wilderness, go kayaking, and a bunch of other stuff. Now, if they can pull off a show like this on Discovery Kids, maybe they would be able to make a show about some kids at Space Camp??

They could get 8 kids to apply and film a week at camp. Albeit, it should be ASA because they get to do the most things at camp, but any age level will do. Even if they do it at Space Camp Spatiale Canada I would be happy! I wonder if we could write letters to the producers of Discovery Kids and if they get enough letters maybe they would consider it? I think it's an awesome idea, what does everyone else think?

Hey! I've been on TV plenty of times! Ever see an ad for Campbell's Soup in Canada? With baseball players? We filmed that in Orlando in the middle of the summer. They had to bring in fake maple leafs.

Or an ad played mostly in the South East for Honey I Shrunk the Audience at Epcot?

Or...

It could be an additional Adventure Camp programme to the one you applied to. Mabe they do it once a year? I had never heard of it before, so I thought I would mention it. However, does anyone else see this as a potential idea for Space Camp? Would anyone else collaborate with me to present this idea to Discovery Kids?

There was actually a television program for Discovery Kids filmed back in 2000 called "Blast Off!" It featured two teams of campers from around the world "competing" in events around Space Camp.

I'd love to pitch an idea like that to any network. ABC family, Nickelodeon, Noggin, etc. There are a lot of them.

I wonder how one would begin to seriously present the idea to a network, any ideas? I sent an e-mail to the programmers at Discovery Channel. Who knows if they will take me seriously though.
