Post by Boomerang »

Well hete is another important Today in space history. 35 years ago today October 11, 1968 Apollo 7 lifted off from Launch complex 34 finnaly getting the apollo program off the ground. Although it was only an earth orbit mission it brought the space program back to life after nearly 2 years of being grounded following the Apollo 1 fire.

This event is even more important after STS-107. We have a history of recovering from fatal catastrophes that will be continued.

Your right i didn't even think of that. And actually i think i should add a couple more years to that time i listed above bhecause if i'm not mistaken the last gemini mission was in 1965 so it had already been 2 years since a manned space flight by the time of the apollo 1 fire.
