I was hoping to get to the Virginia Air and Space Center, but I think it's a bit far.

Well it would be great if you could but the Virginia Air and Space Center is about 4 hours southeast of DC so it is a bit far.

Thats my neck of the woods. Check out the National Air and Space Museum in DC, its a little further down the mall than the rest of the places but its good. The extension that they are building at Dulles Intl. isnt done yet but many planes are there, so i dont know how many planes are still at the NASM in DC. Thats the best place to go that i know of for space in DC, i dont know if the NASA center down here allows unauthorized personel on the grounds anymore, but that would be a cool place to visit, its just out side of DC, but im not sure where.

I love the NASM!!!!!! When we went there for our eigth grade class trip. A chaperone had to stay behind with me while everyone else went on to other museums because I wasn't ready to go.

We are going to DC for my 11th grade class trip this year and I have already begun the search for someone who will hang out with me in the Air and Space Museum all day....

Well, we'll be going this school year, and I was told to get info that might help them plan, like group rates for cool attractions.

My school is so awesome. They just bought an entire digital video production suite with a Mac G4 and two (awesome) G4 laptops because I wanted them. :o How sweet is that!?! And, I got to meet the president's brother (Gov. Bush). I talked to him for a few minutes at a VIP luncheon at the IT Florida Convention (that my school sent me to :D ) and gave him a business card CD I produced with the new editing studio. :)

Well I hate to brag but my school has 17 computers in addition to the 650 already there that they bought just for editing. Nice. Then there are the new DVCams we just bought....whew. There is other lighting stuff in our studio but im not sure what all it is called.

Yeah, Sara, but my school has like 65 kids and they bought it because I wanted it, just me. We also have a few new DV cams that we share with the TV program at Blake.

Ethlar, that's very cool. Ours aren't quite as good as that and upgrades aren't going to be extremely frequent. What software do you use?

We use Media100i for the editing and Pipeline Media deck X to control the camera through the computer. Then we master to DVD or SVHS.

Just wanted everyone to know that I'm back. I'll post pics soon, but I saw a lot of cool stuff, like a membership card for the Intergalactic Turtle Association and Shepard's golf club head (the one he used on Apollo 14), and other really cool stuff.

In December (the 15th I belive), the Smithsonian will be opening the Udvar-Hazy Center, where Enterprise will be on display.

What's this?

Yes, I know it it looks like part of the shuttle stack, but I took this from the plane to DC. Any ideas?

The answer

No, not a guy sitting on a TUG, look again:

The coloring is slightly different on this plane, but my seat was over the wing and what you saw was an engine. It did look like an SRB and ET, though, which is why I took that pic.

The pictures themselves look cool. How did you get them to look that way...almost like a cartoon...

I just took them (with my very expensive professional digital camera). They look like a cartoon? Whatever.
