Hey,
My dad was telling me that before graduation while all the parents are waiting and stuff they play this Nasa parody music. Does anyone know what this is, or where to find it? It sounds really funny!

I don't think that's what he was talking about, but I'd love to hear that!
I think what he was referring to were the Beach Boys parodies...space and NASA lyrics instead of beach lyrics...

oh yeah i remember all that. I remember it specifically from my Academy graduation way back when. I think the reason I remember hearing it was because it was under pathfinder and we were outside and around the graduation area rather than in the hallway.

Nathalie to the rescue!
I got an email from her today...she read this thread and was more than happy to shed some light on the subject:
- I read a post about the graduation music on hab1 that I wanted
to answer. My most favorite part about graduation is the music and it is by
a group called Max-Q. Max-Q is a band made up of astronauts! Very fun! Very cool!
So, there you have it!

I remember hearing some of that music at dinner the first night back in 1991. Does anyone know if they have released any CD's and if so where can you find them?

I looked, but I couldn't find too much. There is a band Max-Q, but I don't think it is the astronaut band. Mainly, the astronaut Max-Q plays at KSC events.
If anyone knows more, please share.

I am part of a e-mailing list of the KSC and the astronaut band (I'm not sure if they call it Max-Q) play concerts there regularly. The tickets cost a fair amount. I know that Chris Hadfield, another amatuer radio communicator (Like Dr. Thirsk), is in it. He's Canadian as well. I think Marc Garneau is in it too, I'm not sure.

The music Played before the grads is from the band "Max-Q". The songs include On Orbit, Good old Zero G, and She'll Have Fun Fun Fun Till her Daddy Takes the Shuttle Away"". The band is made up of current astronauts. The band includes astronauts Dan Burbank, Tracy Caldwell, Chris Hadfield(CSA), Gregory H. Johnson, Steve Robinson and Jim Wetherbee. As for obtaining the music, you might try a google search. Nathalie has it. Ahh, sounds from the mall tour RIP. Anyhoo it would be cool if someday Max-Q could do a performance from space. Man that would be a hoot.

I was in error. The name of the group is not MAX-Q but another group named Mach-25. I know nothing of them except we play their music at grads. Sorry for the mis-information. Do a Google search on them and you will probably find some more info.

There's a company named Mach-25 in Houston, another in Maryland, and a website for scholarship searches.
I did find this, however:
http://top40-charts.com/artist.php?aid=2345, but I think this is a Japanese band.

I think that's the same group. I searched with and without the dash, but I don't think it matters.
