Very interesting story my counselor told me (very unusual)

The place where campers hang out after a long day in the sims.

Very interesting story my counselor told me (very unusual)

Post by maverick »

Hello everyone,

When I was in AC Mach III my counselor (Captain America) told us about an interesting anomaly:

Some 4th-5th grader apparently attended Space Camp, Space Academy,
Advanced Space Academy, Mach I, Mach II, and Mach III one after the other, despite his/her ineligibility for the other four programs!

Anybody know anything about this?

It's really hard to believe that that could happen. The kid would of had to lie on the forms otherwise they couldn't go SCUBA diving. I really don't think this could have happened.

Yes, and we all know how seriously they take SCUBA! I have my doctor's physical tomorrow morning at 9:45 so he can sign the legnthy forms.

It'd be extremly hard to get into a group that is not your age group. It's not easy like in the movie!!

True. That is an unrealistic part of the movie. I dont think any kid that age would "fit in" with us ASAers anyway!

When I first went to Academy level I back in 1991, it was possible to take all the levels back to back. We had a boy in our group who had done Camp the week before and then stayed over the weekend and did level I with us. I think if you look in the old program books it says "Must be in ____ grade or have previously attended Space Camp (or whatever the next lowest program was).

Well, now that you've been to Space Camp, you've got to see it! It's a rite of passage!!!!

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0091993

Basically, a bunch of kids go to Space Camp (the movie was filmed on location in Huntsville in 1985) and get launched into space (don't ask...just watch)...

You'll laugh and cry watching that movie! Mostly because it's such a good yet horrible film!

You forgot to mention how corny the movie is Vincent. The film is entertaining but its unrealistic and corny oh and they definately break the pda rule in that movie. I actually got to see it when it was in theaters in mid 1986. Youll recognise some things in the movie that are still their at camp but alot has changed over the years. The space scenes were actually filmed using a combination of the Atlantis sim for interior of the shuttle shots and Enterprise (then known as challenger) for all the cargo bay shots.

I've seen the door before. Its along the side of the building next to the walkway that goes between pathfinder and the rocket park. They aparently had rooms under the main floor of some of the building where they slept. That door is for where the guys slept in the movie as for the girls its not real clear.

Well im not exactly sure where the restraunt is its been 4 years since ive been to camp remember. But i believe the rooms themselves were under where the cafeteria is now. The door itself is along that pathway between pathfinder and the rocket park like i said but its closer to the rocket park than pathfinder since pathfinder wasnt their in 85.

Yes it would be closer to the rocket park but despite what counselors seem to tell everyone thats not a Saturn 1b its a saturn 1. You can tell by the upper stage. The rocket in the rocket park doent have the lunar module adapter of an S-IVB stage for the top part it has the older S-IV stage. The rocket in the rocket park is a Saturn 1 in a peagasus sattelite configuration.

...Doesn't the information plaque say it's a 1B?

I thought the Saturn 1 was at Marshall...

...and, actually, I thought I heard once (though maybe not) that the Saturn 1/1B (whatever) in Rocket Park is really sort of a cross between the two, as they took various parts from various Saturns to build it...
