We just have to go to the BMV and fill out a bunch of papers.

In Florida, it would be too simple to have a DMV. We have the DHSMV. The line is two hours long, the clerks are idiots, and they're closed Monday. I usually go to the Tax Collector's office (or on the Internet if possible) when I have to do something with my licence. It costs a bit more ($3.50 on 'Net, $5.25 for Tax Collector), but the line is only about 20 min (none on 'Net).

We can renew our plates online. This year they changed the plates to these ugly green things, and people who registered online weren't getting their plates in a timely manner. They had to send a note out to all the police departments across the country asking them to give Indiana cars with expired plates a little leeway. Then, they had to change the plates because they got so many complaints from the police about them being hard to read.

You can order another license online and also get your plates renewed online. Waiting at the DMV for two hours is no fun...trust me I've done it on many separate occassions.

Well i know you can renew your liscense online now. That came about as a result of state budget problems closinmg alot of DMV's in the state. They closed so many that they had to open 7 days a week and extend hours to try to keep up, They ended up having to reopen many of them but also started online renewals to help with the load of people. Unfortunately our state budget problems come from to things. One is out state eliminated the personal property tax we use to have on automobiles which cost the state alot of money. And 2 the lottery funds are not being properly used.

Im sure somebody has already said most of this but i never make it to the bored anymore so yeah I live in michigan and we also have the graduated system but we have to take 30 hours in the car and class room and then another 6 after like 3 months or 90 driving hours. Then we have to take our test and then we can finally get our license. Then we can only drive untill 12 p.m. untill 5 a.m and that lasts untill we are 17. its all very complicated but it does cut down on some of the accidents that happen out of wrecklessness. i will have my unrestricted license in 2 months YAY. i can drive when ever i want to lol. though its not like i really go anywhere after midnight right now anyway so yeah.... (sorry about my bad grammer i just got back from my first day as a certified lifegaurd)

Why oh why is my state so STUPID???? We can't drive after NINE for the first 6 MONTHS. Well 1 month and 15 days until I get something resembling a real license. YAY! 1 month and 19 days until SPACE CAMP!

Question when you have a restricted liscense do you still have to pay the full insurance price?

With a learner's permit, you don't have to pay for insurance. With restricted I believe you have to pay the full price (I hope so. My insurance is through the roof and I con't imagine it going up any more next year.)

Ok it was the same with a learners permit here. But the nice thing with the temporary liscenbse you first get in VA is you dont have to pay insurance till you get your permanent liscense.

Well the only thing is not paying insurance only last 90 days because by then youll have your permanent liscense then its full price.

Well by having someone else drive your car, the assumption is that you are giving them permission, etc. So when you have your permit, insurance isn't an issue yet.
