We have license restrictions the first 6 months we have our licenses and cannot drive after 9.

We can't drive anyone under 18 without someone over 21 in the front seat for the first 90 days, but that's about it. I'm glad I got my license this year though because Indiana is talking about going to a graduated licensing system within the next year.

We have a graduated license system. It has actually reduced the number of accidents.

Well i was lucky when i got my liscense there were no restrictions on teenage drivers but i think Virginia has some now but i dont know what they are.

It was two weeks after the you cant have but one person under 18 that isnt your sibling law went into effect that I got my license.

Only rules they had for minors getting liscenses when i got mine is if you are under 18 you had to take both class room and behind the wheel driversEd before you took the test. And then you had to go sit through traffic court to get your permanent liscense.

Yeah when you are under 18 in NC, you have to take the classroom course and the driving part to get your permit. But If you are 18 you can go straight to a license. Otherwise, you have to follow the graduation licensing system.

Well the worst part was sitting through traffic court all morning long just for the judge to give you your liscense before the lunch break.

Wow. See we have to stand in line at the DMV and take the test...the waiting in line part is the worst. Luckily I got there so early in the morning that I was first in line. 6:30 is waaaay too early.

Well in VA you need a learners permit to take behind the wheel. But all thats required to get that is pass the written test. Once you take class room drivers ed you can take behind the wheel. And here when you take behind the wheel you take the liscense test at the end of the course. If you dont pass you can keep coming back and taking the test till you pass in the next session of the class. When you pass the test you get a piece of paper that along with your learners permit serves as your temporary liscense till you go to court thats when the judge gives you a perminent liscense. Witg me though the DMV lost my photo from my permit so they couldnt make a liscense for the judge to give me so i had to go get another temporary liscense while i waited for the court date. Whic didnt bother me because i was still covered by my dads insurance till i got the permanent liscense.

Wow, it sounds like your system is more complicated than ours. You just sign up to take the written course and then they call you after you pass that for the driving part. After the driving part you get a driver's eligibility certificate which says you are in school and you passed written and driving. Then you go in and take a written and signs/vision test and get your permit which you keep for a year. When the year is over, you give them your permit and take a driving test and you get a limitied provisional license. After that you come back in 6 months and get a full provisional license. When you are 18 you can get a real license that says under 21 instead of under 18 all over it. Then you can come back once you are 21 and get the real real license.

Florida is a simple graduated liscencing system.

Permit: Pass drug/alcohol class, pass written road sign and driving laws test. You must be 15 and you must have a licenced driver over 21 in the passenger seat when you drive. The longer you have it, the later you are allowed to drive.

Licence: Have permit for a year, be 16, and pass driving test (I had a waiver for this portion b/c I took driver's ed.). There are certain hours when you can't drive by yourself (late at night). These vary by age.

Actuallt sara your sounds alot more complicated. Here we have no restrictions and all thats required is to take class room and behind the wheel divers ed. You have to be enrolled in classroom to get youyr permit but you get your liscense as soon as you finish behind the wheel. No restrictions.

Ours must be really easy on teens then. If you take driver's ed you can get your permit at 15 and your license at 16 and 30 days. If you don't you can get your permit at 16 and 6 months. Both of those you have to hold a valid learner's permit for at least 6 months. Everyone under 18 has the 90 day restriction I mentioned earlier.

Yes, yours is easy. Our graduated license system has reduced the number of accidents caused and not caused by teens. We have more annoying restrictions, but its fine I guess. All I know is July 14th (Happy Bastille Day) is the day when I am truly free without restrictions on my license.

Well we have some of that too, but at least you dont have restrictions like not being out past nine. Some of my volleyball games get done that late.

We have curfew, but if you're on your way home after a school or church sponsored event, it's ok. There were times this year that I broke curfew on my way home from bball games. Some of them were sooooo far away and we didn't get home until like 11:30.

Well again the stuff i said applied when i got my liscense i know you now have to be 16 and a half to get the liscense in VA now. There may be other restrictions now but they dont effect me anymore. And now you dont have to sit through traffic court anymore you still have to go to court for the liscense but now you just have to listen to the judge talk for a few minutes on the responsibilities of driving etc thenm he gives you your liscense.
