EDM's

Post by Boomerang »

Well i thought i'd start a discussion on the EDM at advanced academy. Everyone can talk about theirs. I was a pilot at Advanced academy. Our team split up our EDM into two halves and we switched roles between shuttle and station half way through. For the first half i was on the space station. In 3 hours we had a solar flare, a huge fire, a [edited out], and some communications problems we created ourselves. We also had a problem with the air circulation system and almost died from overheating oh and we had someone go crazy and try to go home through the main station door. I dont think we got any expirements done but we definately had alot of fun. After we had some pizza for dinner we switched positions and i was now the shuttle pilot for the second half. And soon after the anomolies began again. We had a toilet explosion, loose bees, electrical problems, one of the mission specialist had a heart attack on the EVA oh and people kept leaving check list lying around so switches were getting flipped with them by counselors as well as a concussion or two. Unfortunately we also had one real problem with the computer which froze up on us and they couldnt get it working again. During the time where they were working on the computer we took the time to explore all of the orbiter. Unfortunately they never got the computer back up so we decided to do the landing as bes we could. The commander and i went through the landing checklist and they ran the apropriate video for a night landing and the mission was over. Luckily we still got to do most of the mission and we were in the sims for 6 full hours.

I was PROP for the EDM. It was a boring position but there was lots that happened to get me from doing nothing. As soon as the people walked into the station they were given problems. In MOCR we were laughing at them cause they looked so funny. A kid in MOCR had a sezuire and we didn't know for like ten minutes. He fell out of his chair! It was so funny. THe flight director got a "paper cut" and flowers were sent to her but Capcom was allergic to pollen. He had a major allergy attack. I got "fired" and had a emotional breakdown. We then had a bomb threat and had to evacute and sit in the "bomb shelter" for 5 minutes. When we came back in everything was thrown all over the place. We needed the medical book cause our sspi was sick but they counselors had hidden it on us. We found it a fixed her up. Then ou SHPI had some kind of medical problem and fell out of his chair. We all looked at him then went back to our jobs. He had been lying there for about 5 minutes when the counselor asked if we were helping him. We said we were working on it. He was probably down for ten minutes before our SSPI fixed him. We also had a big electric storm and the counselors were spraying water at us to make it seem like a leak. Soon after that our EDM was over. Even thou I had a boring position MOCR was still a lot of fun. Hopefully this summer I will be pilot of the shuttle. I can't wait to get back to Huntsville.

Well for our EDM we had a lot of intersting things now that i think back on it. For one i am famous for comming at times when its really slow so the first year i went we only had 9 people im our group but this year we had 4. So we had to have counselors help fill in for us. We decided that unstead of switching half way through the mission we would all stay in the orbiter! Well to start out with throughout the mission both me and the pilot got sick and had to spend like 10 minutes on the toilet! fun fun fun. And of course when ever that happens they always send something at you so while i was gone they had a coulple of warning lights no biggie. And when the commander was gone i think the same thing happend. Then we got a hole in the orbiter which we had to fix with paper and tape.lol then sometime shortly after that we had what they call a christmas tree. This is when all the Caution lights in the sim go on. This is scarey!!! Well it tuned out to me a warning system failure. It would have been alot easier to deal with if our guest apperance night counseler hadnt shown up on capcom and started singing songs in our times of panic. OH THE HALARITY
Then we had a fire in the avaionics bay and our medical person decided to go crazy which made it hard for us to figure out what was wrong. Then we left the first aid bag unnattended so they threw all of the contents aroung the flight deck making tying down our crazy person all that much harder!! And of course our other person had to pass out in the middle of the flight. Then we had some other minor problems in the caution area on landing but eventually we made it down and it was very eventfull. I cant wait to do it again in only 1 more month!!! YAY :D

Yep, I remember the christmas tree, and it indeed was a warning systems failure. We had a solar flare, two people go insane, just like what you guys described.

I remember our christmas tree we had during our mission. Everyone on the crew except me had an alergic reaction to bee stings. Next thing i know i was the only one on the flight deck standing over the center concsel working switched on both sides of the flight deck to fix it. I'm sure my counselor in MOCR got a great laugh out of it.

I was in MOCR for my EDM. The shuttle was having major problems and we couldn't find what was wrong. Just in the middle of their problems we had a bomb threat and had to leave them to fend for themselves. It was so funny to watch them struggle while we sat back an relaxed!!! :D

During our EDM our counselor kept putting eerie messages on our MOCR screens like, "I see dead people", etc. It was hilarious! The MOCR is such a fun place to be. There is some 'down time'(unless youre the CAPCOM!) to goof off an stuff. I love ASA. Can't wait to go back!!

On ours the counselore put messages like "NASA is evil" and "I will get NASA". I told the flight director but we did nothing about it. It ended up be a terrorist or something and we had a bomb threat. We had to go sit in th e"bomb shelter" until MOCR was checked. MOCR rocked!

We had really cool counselors and they made MOCR a lot of fun. Without them it would of been really boring!

Same here, the counselors were really cool. They let us play our CD's in the MOCR and stuff. One counselor was videotaping us, i dunno why, but it was his last week so maybe he wanted something to remember space camp by.

On the shuttle there was an air leak. The pressure went down to 0.4 and it was suppose to be at 10.4!!! We laughed at the people in the shuttle trying to find the leak!!

Some people on our team wanted to do a song at Grad and our counselor was letting them but the supervisors said no. It would have been funny.

I guess thats pretty common behavior for a counselor in their last week of camp.
