Space Camp, CA

You've all probably read the announcement on the Hab1 home page (if not, you've probably bookmarked the forum and you should go back and read some of the announcements) about the camp in CA possibly reopening. I've been to the Queen Mary. I think I remember the dome and it doesn't strike me as being very large. I think that, combined with having to stay in an old ship, the experience would be quite the same. But camp is camp, right?

I think it would be an interesting experience regardless...

Well to me no camp would ever be as good as Alabama but space camp is space camp. I hope they can reopen the california camp it would be diffrent but it would still be space camp.

yeah getting it reopened, regardless of the..sourroundings i guess..is great.
is the CA camp just going to be camp still? like not academy or asa?
proly..i think it would be cool to go in CA. then again, i think not being at the center would really take away from the experience if youve been there before. not having the pathfinder or sleeping in the hab or walking through rocket park would seem really..awkward.

The impression i got from the article it would still be camp only. They didnt get a whole lot of equipment in the deal and the number oif campers they say they can handle is rather limited compared to Alabama.

Wow, I can barely believe Cali might be opening again! How exciting! I'm always fearful that Alabama will close one day! This is good news!

Well i mean nothing last forever but i think Space Camp Alabama will still be around for a long time to come. The fact that they are doing all the renovations to the training center is a good sign already that they are doing better. Atleast that seems like a good sign to me.

I agree, Alabama is not too threatened.

Also and i hate to see it happen because of an accident but in some ways the Columbia disaster has renewed some intrest in space exploration which could help space camp. I just with the intrest could be generated in a diffrent way.

That's true, but I can be the paranoia queen sometimes. I have really bad luck, so with my luck, Alabama would close down and I'd lose my most favorite job in the world forever! But I'm glad to see that's not likely to happen. :D
