I think that living in the Hab for a week is part of "making the grade" when it comes to Camp, but on the other hand, I may only spend one night in the Hab, just for kicks, and then I'm gettin' a cushy room at the Marriott! I've made the grade already, am I wrong?

Well given my current situation id probably stay in the marriot just because being a hotel they would have rooms set up for handicapped people.

I think that hanging out with your team members (at least the ones that the same sex ) is a blast, even if it keeps you up all night.

Well i was looking at it from a convienience point of viewfor me but i would miss beaing able to talk with teammates at night.

Well, this may be an adult thing, but we'd always ATO (Abort To Otter's) at the Marriott at night anyway. The local "watering hole" as it were. A couple times we even came close to rumbling with the AC crowd, but only in jest...

All our team will probably stay in the hotel, so that's where we'll meet for our "seance" sessions, but like I said, I'd still like to billet in the Hab for one night, just to...you know...

Well if it wasnt for the convenience id probably stay in the hab and go over to the wattering hole to hang with the team as needed.

The Marriott would definetly be more comfortable, and I think ATO is just an adult thing.

Thats definately an adult thing. Youth campers cant even leave the hab at night or stay at the marriott.

Even as an adult Ithink I would stay in the hab. I love that thing! Even though you freeze your but off at night it's part of the experience. I can't wait until July when I get to sleep in it again.

Its definately an experiance especially if its your first time going away from home to a strange place like it was for me in 91. Ofcourse back then i was at camp and had to saty in hab 2 in a room with probably atleast 30 other guys but it was still an experiance.

The first time I went was in FL. I, too, had to stay in a room with about 30 other guys. It wasn't my first time going away from home (I'd gone to summer camp several times before). I remember that I got a bed next to the exit sign. This was by pure coincidence, but I was glad because I found the red glow comforting.

If I could afford it, I wouldn't mind staying at the hotel (that's the only way my Mom would even consider coming with me. She thinks the hab rooms are filthy!), but I don't have that much extra dough. I will say that the hab is much better if you bring a sleeping bag and your own mattress cover (get an extra long) and a pillow if you have room and are driving. Last year, there were 4 women on my team. No one wanted a top bunk, so they opened up another room so we could all get a bottom bunk. It was nice not to have to share with more that one person....but it did get a bit lonely at times. Those rooms are so dark and dreary! I'm planning to bring some of those stick-on lights to put inside my locker this year. I consoled myself with the thought that I was only there to sleep. Also, the first thing I did was show the other women where the private showers were. That's a good thing to know.<G>

I think i missed not seeing some members of the opposite sex every now and then (particularily one of them)

Of course, I think everyone does (well, mostly... see PDA post for more info !)

PDA = Personal Display of Affection...
There is a standing rule at camp basically reads (NO PDA!!!) this is to insure no surprises in years following camp (namely almost a year) and also i think its to help keep the kids minds on camp and not on "other things" does it work? aaaaa sometimes.... My girlfriend and I met at ASA (Advance SA) in August and were still together no matter how much Steve and Krispy went after us on "the rules of pda"...

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, that sort of thing can cause problems, I suppose. It didn't, however, in '99 when a "couple" formed in our team. They were cool about it around the team, not it was any of our business. Heck, I had my eye on her, too!

i could just imagine the lawsuits that might come with no pda rule and 9 months after somebodies daughter comes back from space camp they become grandparents.

Well, when minors are involved that's always a tragic consequence. For adults, what they do at the Marriott is their own business, of course, and they can make their own judgements. But I think the rules apply to everyone because it's important to keep in mind that the teamwork comes first and "distractions" should be kept to a minimum. Again, I've never seen any problems like this and don't expect to.
