Wanna own the Moon?

Post by Benji »

I was watching Conan O'Brien and he had a guest who claimed to own the Moon as well as several other planets and their moons. He is selling pieces of them to people. His site is http://www.lunarembassy.com. Gadgets4Sure is selling Moon property for $33/acre at http://www.gadgets4sure.com/product.asp ... artmentID=.

I think buying Moon property is kinda stupid. If you want some of the Moon, you could just go and take it. The owner could sue you, but YOU'RE ON THE MOON!!!

Anyway, just thought I'd bring this guy to your attention.

Correction: No government can own it. That is the loophole he claims that he used. An individual can. http://www.oosa.unvienna.org/SpaceLaw/lpos.html

I've heard that one before. Sounds to me alot like what the International star Registry has been doing for years giving you claim to something you'll never beable to actually claim most likely.

What kind of person would even claim to own the moon and other planets? It's there for everyone and can't be owned.

Space is for everyone and shouldn't be sold. They have the buy a star thing at my local science centre but all the money they get goes back to help the museum. I would pay for a star there because it would be helping the museum. I would not buy one from someone who is out to make a profit.

Well i think its better known now than it use to be that if you pay to name a star for someone its not official but it use to be a common misconception. The International Star Registery has been doing it for years although i dont know where the money goes to. I actually have one i got for christmas in 1983. I have the certificate hanging on my wall.
