Okay, I think Jason said something about putting a new topic out there. I didn't see one so I'll start it. Someone mentioned the fact that it would be nice to have some kind of poster, t-Shirt (and I said Mission Patch) to have campers and fans of HAB-1 to sign as they go through Camp. Everyone who replied seemed to think it was a good idea. So... fresh space for debate =)

Okay, here was my last reply on this on the other topic:
A poster/litho and even T-Shirt sound like a good idea. What about a big "Hab-1" Mission Patch? Anyone here a good artist? Then we can all sign it as we pass through and it would be someting unique to us - our own "mission" so to speak.
As much as the Camp/Academy logo would be nice to have displayed on the patch (or other decided upon medium) I don't know that it would fly with copyright considerations... but a mission patch with a "Special" Hab-1 logo on it might be quite nifty =)
Just my thought.

Oh yeah. That would have been great! How about one of the patches? Someone can draw the poster or the 20th Aniversary patch and make it part of the overall concept that we all eventually agree on

Sounds like a good idea but don't ask me to draw it i cant drawworth anything unless its drafting that i can do if i have the right tools.

Someone around here has to be a good artist. And hopefully they're part of this thread!

I'm certainly not =)
A pin?

I'm certainly not the person you're looking for to draw it, either, but Richasi had a good idea with a Hab1 patch. That would be awesome! In addition to the poster, we could even make a pin out of it (if everyone pitched in, it would only be a few bucks each and we'd have something to differentiate us as Hab1-goers). Just an idea, but it would be pretty cool.

One thing to consider with getting anything made is their will probably need to be a minimum order. That goes for shirts, patches or pins. And keep in mind since its a custom design your also going to have to pay for the mold for the pin to be made or the patern for the patch or shirt. Just something to consider.

I think it's a cool idea. I'm not an artist so I won't be able to do it.

Like i said above its definately a cool idea but just make sure to keep the cost consideration in mind. I wish i could go this year i'd love to get the free flight suit. I'm sure not having any luck finding one cheap to make myself an astronaut style flight suit.

You can do a serch for custom pin companies. (
http://www.pinmart.com/ is one good example, so is
http://deltaspark.com/pins/custom-pricing.html) Minimum orders are generally 100, and it would only be a few dollars per person. We just need a few more people...

Do they charge anything for the custom pattern. Patches are all done by embroidery machines and need a pattern made and pind need a pattern for the machine to follow as well thats ussualy the expensive part of custom orders.

Okay, when I meant by patch is the mission patches that are drawn at ASA, not a real embroidered patch

Though, that would be pretty nifty as well.

Well drawing a patch would definately be cheaper thats for sure.

Indeed. And it can be made poster size for whatever our purposes call. I just thought it would be interesting to do it in whatever style is current with the ASA mission patches but only specialized for HAB-1 purposes. All we'd need is someone who is an excellent designer and artist dedicated enough to do it

Well maybe we should have a contest among the members of habforum to see who can design the best patch. Anyone who wants to submit them can and then we can vote to see whos is best.

Now that I have permission from the STS-205 FD to continue my participation here, I'd like to point out two directions we need to decide on:
1) The first concept that I still want to expound on is the idea of purchasing a *simple SC/AC plate or stein* and having us all sign and inscribe it as we pass through camp this year and in coming years. A plate or a stein will have plenty of clear space as long as everone is careful to limit their markings to as small a space as possible.
2) A patch is easy if we have an order of 100+ minimum. Again, I'm
not advocating a patch at this point and don't know quite what we're talking about here. Ditto about pins. Let me know if I can be of help here.

Ok well if wed like a stein or a plate or something along those lines with some form of hab1 logo on it here is a site that does custom items like that. I've seen them put custom logos on just about anything.

Just to clarify, we want to use a plate or stein purchased *AS IS* from the gift shop, one with some sort of SC/AC art on it...
Any Hab1.com logo merchandise can only come from Vincent, and he's already let us know where that situation stands.
