Congratulations! I hope your first time at ASA goes wonderfully, and may it not be your last time at ASA!

To answer your question, they will give you a flight suit to wear during your missions, team picture, etc., but if you want one to take home, you'll need to buy one. On the upside, they have the royal blue flight suits now instead of the old, 80's style powder blue flight suits.

As you all know, I'm from western Canada. I asked my mom when she was going to book my plane ticket for when I go in July and she said that is Bush goes to war with Iraq I won't be going. I understand why she says this but there is no way I would ever cancel my space camp trip. I went last year by myself after 9/11 and I really don't she a big risk in me going this year. If i don't go this summer I won't be able to go for at least foru more years because I start university. I can only hope I can go no matter what. I am pretty sure I will be able to convice her to let me go. Space Camp is a safe place and I don't think anything will happen to me there. Only time will tell but we have to book soon otherwise the plane tickets get very expensive. Last year we booked the plane ticket 5 months in advance and I leave 5 months from tomorrow.

Well i hope you can go monkeynautt. I'm glad that when i went i never had to worry about things like that. Although i did have to deal with tight security in 96 when i went through Atlanta only a month before the olympics.

hopefully you can still go! grr to you mom.
i was really surprized with how cheap my plane was, it was like 100 cheaper than the last time i went, and i had gotten those tickets long in advance. maybe cuz i got them directly from delta instead of the travel people. i duno.
you go almost exactly 3 months after me. whee

I'll just have to convice her I can go. I'll be 18 (my birthday is on Sunday. I'm going to the bar! :D ). Nothing happened during the Gulf War so I should be fine. I can't image having to cancel the trip. We booked it back in September so we could get the $200 off. I've been looking forward to it ever since. Back after my first trip I thought I'd never get to go back. Now after this summer I will have done all the positions. It is the most fun I have ever had!!!!!

Lucky you. Although i only went to ASA once i was glad i got a chance to experiabce as many of the programs as i possibly could. Each one was unique in its own way. Although i do wish i could have gone to ASA atleast one more time but i probably would have gone as a pilot again. There is just something about being in one of the top positions on the crew or in MOCR.

I'm hoping to go to ASA for a few weeks this year so can try the other tracks. I'm also hoping to win the lottery.

True money is the biggest thing thaty kept me from going more than i did and is the reason their was always atleast 2 years between trips. If i could have i would have gone every year even if it meant going to some programs more than once. Space Camp was such a great experiance.

To go last year I used my car money and to go this year I'm using my graduation money. If i didn't I would have only gone once. Also, i took advantage of discount tuition for last year and this year.

Guess i was lucky that someone else paid for my first 3 trips to space camp. The 4th time i had to pay for half but it was definately worth it.

The exchange between the Canadian and American dollar is what makes it expensive. Also, I'm in a family of 4 kids so my parents can't send me to camp and do nothing for my brothers. It wouldn't be fair. The "I'm the only girl thing" doesn't work on them.

Well if i had to rely on my parents i wouldnt have been able to go. My dad couldnt of afforded it. I might have been lucky to go once if i earned all the cost on my own. Which wouls have most likely only meant one trip. But thankfully i had a generaous grandmother who paid my way.

Well arent you lucky. Hope you have a great time i'm sure you will. As it gets closer i keep thinking about how excited i was 10 years ago when i was getting ready to go to Space Academy Level 1 in April of 93. It was going to be my second trip and i just couldnt wait. And trying to get through school those last couple of weeks before my trip were torture. Well see you in a week and if you can take all of the pictures on the 4 roles so we who are left behind can see them.
