We made our counselor cry too!

I remember that we made Mary Beth (whom I think was both our day and night counselor) cry also.

I also remember the AC kids calling us smurfs because of our flight suits (this was after we called them communists)

Looking back at pictures of the hab, first two thoughts that came to my mind were

1. This place is like a prison (Alcatraz) due to the strict regulations

2. I remember that several times during ASA I was thinking in my head just two words: WING COMMANDER (the computer game).

oomg i felt the SAME way. it was scarry, on the last night we were filling out those evaluations, and we were on the 1st floor of the hab and i was laying on the floor writing and one of my friends was there and our counselor, and some other counselor went out some door and the alarms went off and the secruity ppl came, oh my god, i screamed so loud, it was scarry. but it was nothing, so it was kinda funny after.
and the fence going around, that made me feel like i was in jail. LMAO and the guard rails on the beds, i got my head stuck in it so they had to go get a counselor in the middle of the night to get my head free, funny times

Well, space camp is all about living in space, and living in space, i'm sure, can feel like a prison sometimes. I mean, confining space, not being able to leave, etc. the hab is designed to simulate a space station environment.

I never thought of it as a prison. It is a little bare bones though.

the inside of the hab is very "gray" colored. this may contribute to the prison-like feel.

Yeah...that and (unless the story I heard was just a story) the guy who designed it was a guy who usually makes his money as an architect by designing prisions!

According to a friend of mine who went to both florida and alabama he says the hab in florida is identical to hab 1 on the outside and verry similar to hab 2 on the inside.

I would look at the pictures of the Hab on the space camp website and I'd tell my parent's "that's my bed" before I was even sure I was going. When I got to camp I ran up to get my bed!!! I got the one I wanted and was so happy!!! :D I had wanted it forever!!!!

The one in Florida resembles Hab1, but it's not an exact replica or anything...
