I understand why they can't run the thing, as the electronics are all outdated now, but it's sad nobody will ever be able to "fly" it again. I'd pay a pretty penny to get to land that thing!

Same thing happened at USSRC... The motion base simulator that I flew as Endeavour in 1991 is just an empty shell now.

Which orbiter sim is that? The one that they have branded as Endeavour is in the Astrotrek building and is being used for junior camps. They have it connected to a salvaged station module that they got from Marshall. A teammate and I checked it out while we were on break one day. It has the full flight deck/mid deck arrangement. Discovery over in the Sim Center just has the flight deck and looks like it was set up for gimbals at one point.

The last time I was at USSRC in 2017, it was sitting on the floor with Colbert painted on it. I looked inside and it was empty.

There's a full nose marked Endeavour that used to be on the training room floor. In 2018, it was in the astrotech building. It's different from the previously mentioned mobile Sim.

Yeah, that gimbaled simulator is long gone. If I were a betting man, I would say that it was tucked away in the conservation area along with the MOLAB and some of the other stuff that used to be on display but has since been taken off property.
