Changes!

Post by monkeynautt »

I was just at spacecamp.com saw that ASA is changing. Pilots no longer do SCUBA, they go over to AC. MS's and PS's still do SCUBA. Also Space Academy and Space Camp have changes going on as well. They now offer a 4 day Space Camp! For ASA it's like they're going back to Space Academy Level 2 ways.

Well maybe if they are going back to academy level 2 ways they will return the 12 or 24 hour missions. Too bad about the scuba though.

Well, that's only no SCUBA for the pilot track, which does actually make sense as far as training goes...

...I too would like to see the return of the 12/24 hour missions, but that may be hoping for too much!

Well even though i loved scuba i never really thought it made much sense for the pilots to do it anyway. I know when i was there the scuba activities were mainly geared toward EVA training which has nothing to do with the pilots. It makes more sense for the pilots to go to AC and train in the flight simulators.
As for the 12 and 24 hour missions we can always hope.

No SCUBA?

Post by Benji »

When is this no-SCUBA for pilots thing taking effect? I just came back and I went.

Thats a good question i was under the impression it would start at the beginning of this year. Maybe since you were there over new years it will start with the next session after yours.

Hehehe, I guess when/if I make it this year I'll have to decide not to be a pilot :)

Perhaps. But I don't CARE about AC. Never have. Maybe that view would change if I experienced it, but AC has never been my cup of tea. Camp/Academy always has.

Well i always thought the same thing till i went in 96. And until i went to aSA AC was my favorite program. Its diffrent but it has its own good points. Ofcourse at ASA you would only get a small taste of it.
