'Space Shuttle Mission' simulator 2007

Post by airkale »

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone happened to use the Space Shuttle Mission Simulator 2007 from Exciting Simulations from back in the day? I used to have it and it was a great sim. Somehow I got separated from it and back a few years ago when I went to try to reinstall it and use, it didn't work. Of course it was not designed for any current operating systems, but the version I had archived may have not been the most current release, either.

Does anyone currently have it working? I'd love to figure out how to get it back operational, but the site was last updated in 2014. I don't want to try to buy the latest version off their website if I know I can't get it to work.

You can download software that can simulate an older operating system. I don't know what it is called, but I know it's a work-around. In Windows, you used to be able to 'open as...' (or something similar) and select an older operating system version as well. I used to do that when older programme wouldn't work with whatever OS I had at the time.

I have switched to the Apple world, so my Windows knowledge is a bit outdated.

Yea I tried xp compatibility mode back in the day. However, I haven't tried an emulator yet. They weren't as main stream as they are today. Might be my next project.

If you guys have never used it, it was more comprehensive than the Binary Star simulators I have used. It was really awesome when I had it working.

Update:

I did get it to work on a Windows 10 computer. Now I just have to work less than 65 hours a week, so I have some time to fly missions. Believe it or not, the design group still replies to emails even though the sim is 2007 era. No word on the second version that was promised in 2014, but it still is a good looking replica.

How did you get it to work? I love that simulator and would love to re-load it on a newer computer.

It installed and ran in Windows 10 just like it was designed to run natively. I was surprised because of my troubles with W7, but I had seen some posts that indicated that people had no problems, just like me, and I decided to take a chance.

Take a look at the information in their forum, it was helpful.
