Post by Space Nerd »

So how does everybody feel about the rennovations that Vincent posted about earlier?? I know that i cant wait to see what everything looks like in july. Of course this means i might have to learn how to use a new sim lol. Either way i think this should be really awsome!!!!

I guess it's great! :)

I've not seen any of the sims since 1991 so it'll all be different to me if I ever get back there :)

There aren't currently any ASA sessions going on. And I'm sure they'll have it all finished by late December when things start back up again.

...One would hope!

Enterprise

I was in the second group to use Enterprise since the renovations. I was in MOCR, so I can't tell you much about the orbiter, but the program has been updated. All the bugs haven't been worked out, but some of the screens are in color, not black and green, and there are several monitors overhead the flight contollers' stations. Also MOCR is on the TCF, which allows for handicapped access.

A list of changes to Enterprise orbiter:
One of the windows out the top of flight deck has monitor showing Earth/Space and docking with ISS.
One Aft Window on flightdeck shows payloadbay doors in all aspects of operation.
More switches interface the computer.
Middeck now has all the panels.
Middeck has two more monitors showing flight and system information.
New paint on most interior/some exterior.
All out the window footage is using a realtime graphics engine (no prerecorded video).
Our software vendor loves lens flares. *cough cough*
But other than that it is very sharp and snazzy. Software is up gradable and is very comprable in looks to what is used at JSC.
Note: this list of changes is not complete. I have helped first hand in many of the changes but they are so vast that I can't remember them all.
It is nice to have the ol girl up and running and speaking for the ASA counselors we are proud to have her back.

Enterprise renovations...

Post by jasonmc »

here is what happened. While they were working on enterprise there was not many AA teams. So when we had teams over christmas, until wednesday when the Enterprise was ready we used Atlantis for 1hour missions. It worked pretty well. the new software for enterprise works fairly well but it is not finished yet, (think Mars VR) so there were some bugs, but it got the job done.

more about this later!!!
