Flight Suit Changes

Well i know most if not all of us have owned or atleast worn space camp flight suits over the years. Well looking at the old video, my 2 flight suits, and having seen the new flight suit recently ive noticed many changes over the years.
The flight suits i saw in the old video were pretty diffrent from the ones we can get now. About the only thing in common was they were light blue. The old flight suits had no NASA patch of any kind. The space camp patch was a black rectangular patch that said US Space Camp or something to that effect. Instead of the visitor center patch we have on their now they had a red patch that said Alabama Space and rocket center. They did however have the familiar american flag and shuttle paych. One other diffrence is the zippers were exposed and verry vissible. The flight suits also didnt have all the pockets that they do now. And on the back United States Space Camp was printed.

The first flight suit i had was light blue. It still had fewer pockets than the current ones and the zippers were exposed. But mine had nothing on the back and it had the familiar visitor center patch, shuttle patch, american flag, and round space camp patch. It also added a NASA worm patch. However the worm patch was above the round space camp patch and not on the sleeve.

My second flight suit which i still have had the same patches but the worm was moved to the sleave underneath the shuttle patch. Also this flight suit had all the now familiar pockets making it more like the ones worn by the astronauts and the zippers were now covered.

Having seen a more recent light blue flight suit i've seen it looked the same but the worm patch was replaced with the NASA vector or meatball otherwise it was the same.

As for the newest version they are dark blue and have all the familiar patches and pockets including the vector replacing the worm. The only reall diffrence i noticed was the lack of 2 main zippers which is rather inconvienient.

Anyone notice any other diffrences?

Depending on how much money I make before I go to camp I may by the new flight suit. I like the new colour so much more. I may also by the jacket. All this would cost a lot so I might pay for the flight suit before. i'll have to wait and see because I have to pay for my grad ring in a few weeks.

I like the ne4w color as well but i think if anything i'd buy the jacket instead of the flight suit because i'd get more of a chance to wear it outside of camp.

That's what I'll probably do if I can't get both.

Do the Jackets they sell at camp have the velcro spot for the name tag? I know the ones they sell on some other sights that are like it dont.

New Flight Suit Colour

I have not been to Camp since they changed the flight suit colour. Are these new flight suits similar to the ones the counsellors used to wear (1998, 1999)? If so, I asked the store about purchasing a royal blue one in July 2003 and they told me that the royal blue flight suits were only for counsellors. I guess that leaves me a little confused. If someone could help clarify this, it would be appreciated.

Well granted its been a while since i've seen a counselors flight suit but the new color is similar. But for some reason it doesn't seem quite as dark to me. This is just coming from the one new one i've seen that belongs to a friend of mine.

A senior picture in your flight suit sounds like a cool idea. I didnt even think of that although by my senior year i din't have a flight suit that fit me anyway but i could have gotten one if i had thought about it wish i had now.

Well as nice as the new flight suits are id rather either get one from another source that has the patch placement correct noit to mention has the modern NASA vector instead of the one from the 60s or better yet get my own suit with no patches and pit the correct ones on their myself. Hard part ive found is finding a royal blue flight suit ive seen lots of navy blue ones but few royal blue and the ones i have found are areally expensive.
