Hi guys!
I just got back from a whirlwind 3-days in Huntsville and I am exhausted! So this will be short and sweet for now. We had an amazing turnout of over 300 alumni and guests, and many of the past Hall Of Famers were there as well. The ceremony for the red tail F-16 with the Tuskegee Airmen earlier today was really special, too. I'm excited about the future of the alumni role in Space Camp. I'll share more later. I need a nap!
Showing off some new bling!

Thanks! I hope the recognition that Whitney, John and I got over the weekend will drive others to get involved and contribute to our cause.
The polos are awesome, very good quality. You can get one by helping out the AAB with their projects. Same goes for the patches. As ambassadors serving in your communities, ya'll should probably get one sooner or later. I think the AAB may in the future want to organize projects for you guys in your local communities, along with other local alumni, to get you more involved.
I'll try to share more about the weekend events (and photos) later this evening.

The problem is that the aulmni page is gone, as is the ambassador page. I've sent some of the stuff I've done in the name of the program, but never even got a 'thanks for the info' reply to any of it. The Ambassador program sends out emails on what people are up to, but they're usually just for people who've brought a large group to SC (you know, people who generate direct revenues).
Not really feeling the love from either program at this point...
I'd volunteer time if I lived nearby but I'm lucky to just get to Huntsville for Camp as I'm on the opposite corner of the continent.

If I may speak on behalf of the AAB, I'm sure whatever you have sent in was filed away so that it may be brought back up at the proper time. The AAB is a small group with ALOT on their plate and we don't have all of the resources to do everything we want to do as quickly as we would like. So expect things to move at a slow pace here in the early stages. When you register on the AAB website, the info goes into a database that we will use to find the people we need for different projects. I'm sure everyone will get their chance eventually, especially if alumni meetups and workshops are organized at local levels.

It was great seeing you get the well-deserved awards, Hotdog. I was at the banquet, but they had us at reserved tables for our Adult team Challenger. More about the adult camp in another thread.

I was way back in the back at table 27. Where were you? I knew some of the adult campers were at the ceremony, as well as a few others filling in the empty seats...

Hotdog wrote:The website just got a rebuild, so it may be a bit before some of the more obscure elements are worked back in. For now, we have this page on the main Space Camp site: http://www.spacecamp.com/alumniadvancementboard
And, of course, the official Alumni website: http://spacecampalumni.com/
Wasn't there some other alumni site? I remember completing a profile yet never bookmarked the site.
They split us between tables 19 and 23. It was very cool because 23, which I was at, was right next to the Tuskegee Airmen. Sam, our Crew Trainer, split his time between both tables since we had a few empty chairs and got 2 dinners! Much better food than the cafeteria rotation.

The food at the events in Davidson is always outstanding! It's a step up from the cafeteria/Mars Grill fare.
I did get to sample the Space Camp cafeteria food while I was there over the weekend (first time in 20 years!) and I must say, it has gotten significantly better than it was back in my day. The fried chicken I had was delicious! Steve joined me for this meal so he can back me up!

Yep, there surre was. It's one of the many things they've yanked off their site. Not happy about that. They also yanked the ambassador page and all the old mission patches.
Interesting. I might just put myself on that one as well, just for the heck of it...

Yeah, the food there is pretty good (better than the cafeteria where I work and you have to pay through the nose for that), beats me why people still talk smack about SC chow...

Hang tight, I hear the mission patches will be coming back. I would expect the Alumni Directory will not be tossed away, either. Let's give them time to import everything over to the new design.

I didn't have as much problem with the food as with the way they are now serving it. Right onto the try like you see in prison movies. I know that it may be better for the environment than the disposable plates and bowls, but it sure looks unappetizing and the trays don't look very sanitary. Also, I had trouble getting milk for my tea in the mornings because they don't have the small cartons any more and didn't have the big milk dispenser ready to go when I needed it. The chicken was very good. Also pasta night. Our team ate in the Mars Grill for lunch one day and on the last morning we convoyed to the IHOP for a team breakfast.

And neither one of you stopped to say hello to me at the 'registration' table!
Sorry, Street. Don't know you by sight. I wanted to go to the registration table to make sure that my dietary restrictions had been noted. (They weren't!) My Crew Trainer said that if I had included them in my registration, that they would have them. ( I had) but he went to check on it and told me to stay. Turns out that 2 of the team had bought tickets (I was one) and the other 11 were told it was included in the registration. ( I was told the opposite). They did eventually get me the right meal and they are now refunding the ticket price. I wish I knew more of my Hab1 friends by more than just their call signs on here. (I am Diane M. O'Keefe, by the way!)
