$949 + $50 registration fee....

Might be tempting if they listed the major activities somewhere... I would hate to take a flyer on my last week of vacation this year.

The adult ASA is almost identical to the youth program. Check out their listing for more details. It seems really late to just announce this camp though, as most people going to the 4-day camps would be in the market for the week long camp. I certainly wish I had more vacation time (and funds) to go to the week camp this autumn.

This really irks me. Yes, it's very late in the year to be doing this. I would consider canceling my 4-day trip and signing up for this ASA, but I've planned a killer pre-Camp trip to KSC with Steve and p51. Still, I'm glad to see ASA might be back for the grown-ups next year.

I will check next time I am there about 2015. At the graduations on Friday's, they have a booth for 2015 camps.

Bring on the Dream Chaser sim (my old Discovery shuttle sim, repurposed), and a 5-day Adult ASA camp for $1000 in 2015 and this ol' Rocket Ace just might come out of retirement for one more go-around!

I probably speak for Steve as well when I say I agree 100% with this.
Any adult seriously looking to go, especially the SC fans like us, have already signed on for a slot if we were going at all this year.

I'm in agreement with the everyone here that the scheduling aspect of this decision is baffling. But I am glad they are trying to bring ASA back for adults.

My one fear is that due to the last minute nature of offering this camp session that it will not do well and that they will cancel any slots they might have been planning for 2015.

If they keep a 2015, I can guarantee you that my wife and I would sign up for it in a heart beat (barring my work schedule getting in the way of course).

Still...looking forward to our 4-day session in October.

I agree on the timing of the listing yet the woman I talked to this morning indicated that they rarely have these camps now unless there is a group coming in. That is what happened with the last ASA I attended. In fairness to USSRC, they listed it 9 weeks before the start date and I would assume that one is able to transfer. She said that they usually mirror the kids’ ASA yet she was unable to say that for sure without checking first. (She was unable to tell me as their systems were down.)

She said that she would call me back when their systems are running. I can tell you that the phone lines opened 45 minutes late today.

So, did someone at SC just wake up one morning and say, "Hey, why not have an ASA in a few weeks?"

But we're talking about adults, and most adults have to plan for stuff like this around jobs, family, etc.
I for one have to put in for time off several months in advance and getting time off is so tough for me, it'd take a miracle to get a swap once I've gotten approved time off. I'm sure I'm not alone there.
Still confused and somewhat ticked. Yeah, I'm going with a group to a combined Kennedy Space Center/SC trip, but to be honest it'd have been so much easier (and less expensive) for me if I just went to SC for a week!

No, a group signed up for ASA and it was displayed accidentally on the website, so I was just told by USSRC. They used to have adult ASAs yet the attendance dropped off so they do them only for groups now. That may also explain the December 4-day that appeared, then disappeared.

Huh. So a "group" just formed up an ASA? A cheap version of Corporate Camp? Bizarre business
practices by the USSRC, that's all I can say.

Maybe they designate corporate camps as ASAs.

Here's a "cheap" camp: 9/28/2014 - 9/27/2015 for $499.

That's interesting to know though, especially for those of us who might want to do an ASA but can't.
If we get enough people interested, we CAN do it. Anyone know what size that group is?

My guess is 15-16. Years ago, USSRC said that we needed a minimum of 8 to run missions. However, the per person cost is higher the fewer people you have.

The rub may be in how USSRC treats corporate camps. One person has to sign the contracts and fund the camp for everyone. There are no individual payments or refunds.
