When I was last at SC, I noticed they had a Orion capsule all set up there. I'm wondering when they'll start doing landings for SC missions?
Sure, the orbiter is perfect for SC, because you can stuff several people in it for a mission and fewer people can fit in a lander than that (and you'd have to have EVA suits for everyone in a capsule anyway, whereas you don't for the orbiter except for the MSs doing sat work), but I'm wondering when you'll start seeing capsule missions at SC.
I think the 'Team Phoenix' veteran group has done at least one capsule landing from some stuff I've seen online, but that's a custom camp program.
Just curious...

I think some programs already use the Orion simulator but i'm not sure about the lander or the roving vehicle they turned the okld endeavour motion based simulator into.

I'm waiting on a DreamChaser sim! I'd love to fly that thing

Some groups are doing Orion missions already, and have been for at least a year. I don't know how they fit into the week-long youth programs yet. I wonder if one of the recent ASA trainees could chime in and let us know. We're doing some Orion missions in October. Cannot wait! It looks like they have one, two and a half, and five hour Orion/lunar missions developed with longer EDMs still in the planning stages.

I'll be doing the Adult SA program next month, and I assume we'll be using the orbiter again. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but I'd love to use the capsule someday...

When I was there before Christmas last year, the lady gave me a tour of it when I was trying to get a camp together for this year. They do use it for custom camps. It is really neat what you can do when you have a custom camp.

I guess the 3-day adult SA will unlikely be using the capsule for a while.
Oh well, I'm fine with the orbiter, but it'd be neat to be able to use the Orion as well...
