Expelled teen gets full scholarship to Space Camp

Good story and I love a (sort of) happy ending. Such a shame they had to play the race card there, because everything they complained of (kids being expelled for water baloons and nonsense like that) is happening to kids of all races!
Good thing I am the age I am now and went to school in the deep south, because I'd have been expelled numerous times over had things then been as they are now. For a high school research project, I did one on shape charges and even made an inert one as a visual aid, along with diagrams showing back blast and shrapnel patterns. Nobody thought it was odd way back then (I graduated from high school in 1987), as everyone in school knew I was into that stuff. I also did an art project of a flip book showing the operation of a German MG-42 machine gun action and how it cycled the bullets and fired automatically. Although I was the absolute last kind they had to worry about harming anyone, imagine how a kid into stuff like that would be treated in today's schools!
