From that link: "When all the children arrive at camp the first day, they have the opportunity to trade pins with other children."

This has never happened at Space Camp. Ever.

Of course, the way the article is worded, it could be argued that they're just talking about camps in general, even though they start and end the listing discussing Space Camp.

Pretty funny read, if you ask me!

I'll certainly take your word for that. It sounded very odd to me when I first read that. The pin they showed looked strange as well.

I'm with Vincent on that one. Never heard or seen this happen. In reality you will do scavenger hunts and play games to break the ice on the first day.

Most kids have spent all year scraping up the cash to come to camp, not much left over to have CUSTOM lapel pins made, as I'm sure they're not cheap!

I will say that we bought and collected lapel pins of shuttle mission patches in the gift shop. One year we all bought the pin that looked most like our team's mission patch.

In reading the other articles on the site it appears that they like to write about their customers. I'm willing to bet (looking at the date of the publish) that maybe a teacher attending International Space Camp made an order and the company kinda jumped on it.

The only time I know of when pin trading is done is during Sci-Vis. The kids come from various schools and other countries and bring pins to trade. I have 5 lanyards full of pins I've traded over my 9 years at Space Camp, but that week in September is the only time I've every traded consistently.
