I assume they might be coming in the near future but I dunno. Do you?

Here is my Hoot Gibson artwork that I teased you guys with before I left for Huntsville last week:

Image

I presented this to Capt. Gibson after the Hall Of Fame ceremony on Friday.

Here is a picture of me and Hoot taken after I presented him with the framed caricature artwork:

I will post more pictures from the Hall Of Fame weekend later. Stay tuned!

I never understood why people post all their shots on facebook. Those of us who choose not to use that will never be able to see them...

Just curious what patches they're using on the camp flight suits now that the 30th is official. I assume they're no longer using the 25th anniversary patches?

Vincent,
I have a lot of photos from 1988 that I can send you. Tons of the training center and the Marshall tour. Do you have an email that I can send them to? I can put them on Facebook, but then not everyone can see them.

This is the best time for the training center floor. I glad the Endevour pic got posted, I forgot what that sim looked like. Also you can see the cafeteria has the original layout, before it went to the crappy layout they have now. I hate the single serving tiny plastic plates of each item served. They used to actually give you a tray and put what you wanted on it.

I wish I could have made it to Huntsville this year, but things have been superstressful at work. I have been trying to get another job in my hometown as my current employer has moved my position to Houston. In the end, it didn't work out and it looks like I am moving to Houston. However, as it will distance me from the USSRC and Huntsville, I will now have JSC in my backyard.

I hope you guys have been fairing a little better than me. I was hoping that next time I made it up to Huntsville, I could ride my friends Vincent and Jason in the Beech Bonanza two other gentlemen and I purchased late last year, but it looks like for naught.

If the Marshall tours start again, maybe we can all get together and hang out for the weekend.

This is how I remember Endeavour! The great thing about this picture is it shows how the training center floor was OPEN so you could watch the missions and training going on throughout the day. On the TV screens you see above the Endeavour (facing the cafeteria) you could watch the Endeavour mission screens and animations. This was a really cool part of the museum visitor experience that you don't get anymore since they've now got everything blocked off! I think this hurts Space Camp recruiting. I think it was the sight of the training center floor that convinced my parents that the Space Camp experience would be worth the money.

Image

I remember this guy! He was the counselor who woke us up in the morning. He would come around all the bunks and yell "OK EVERYBODY TIME TO MAKE THE DONUTS!" I have a cartoon I drew of him somewhere in my Space Camp things. Check out the cool velcro shorts the counselors wore back then.

Oh and I think the Slate article is wrong about when Mr. Bush visited Space Camp. It was either 1989 or 1991. I have the issue of the Space Camp News letter that featured the visit. I'll have to dig it up.

Yeah Kale we missed you at the ceremony last weekend! Wish you coulda been there. If I saw you I was gonna ask about getting a plane ride! I think the Marshall Plan group for July 21 will work out to be worth the trip though if you can make it.

Yea we could all strapped in and buzzed the Saturn V! Kinda sucks, worked for almost a year to get a plane, and then I lose it before I even had it a year! Thankfully, the partners that own the bird with me are going to absorb my share. Makes it alot easier than selling.

If all doesn't work out and I have to fly the big steel bird to Huntsville courtesy of one of our wonderful airlines, I guess we can see about renting a plane.

So they went back to the old shuttle patch, then? All the suits I knew of lately have had the 25th oval anniversary patch, wouldn't make much sense to keep using that now, so I was wondering if they went to something new...
