U.S. Space and Rocket Center cancels gala, focusing on Space Camp registrations and budget challenges
HUNTSVILLE, AL -- The U.S. Space & Rocket Center has scrubbed plans for the 2011 gala dinner set for Feb. 18, according to Dr. Deborah Barnhart, CEO and executive director.
The date had been changed a couple of times to keep it from conflicting with a shuttle launch that NASA has had to reset, she said. That likely contributed to what has been sluggish ticket sales and difficulties scheduling a "headliner" for the event.
