Hey, just wanted to get a tally on who's going to be in Huntsville this weekend - either enrolled in Alumni Camp or as a visitor or employee. I plan on being around for both days if anyone wants to meet up.

I will be there as a camper. Some scary moments a couple of weeks ago, I got a call saying that they had canceled alumni camp, but they aparently changed their minds later in the day. I can't wait to get there.

I wish i was going. I;m guessing if they were almost ready to cancel the camp it was for lack of numbers. Between the late taee that they announced the camp and the lack of advertising it doesnt suprise me. Last year the numbers were down too. Without a 2007 type of advertising the problem will continue though. Wish i could add my name to the list but cant afford it this year.

Next summer i am working on a little project of trying to get together my old ASA team from 1998 to go to either the alumni session assuming their is one or a regular adult week or weekend. So far facebook has gotten alot of us back together. I started a group or the team now just have to work on the details.

I also wish that I could go. It doesn't surprise me that they almost canceled the alumni camp weekend. I hope that those of you who are going have enough people signed up so that you can have a great time.

I just got back and we did have a great time! The team was made up of six counselors, one former counselor, two alumni, and one 'buddy'. I'm sure we'll all share some of our adventures over the next few days. Right now, though, I'm exhausted.

Can we chalk it up to very little advertising, the lack of days with the dinners, and the economy.

Haha I believe that all of those that you mentioned are what you call "UNEMPLOYED" and have moved within the past year and couldn't make it this year, although I know that we all wanted to be there. We were all there in spirit  .Maybe if someone will hire me someplace sometime soon, Chris (aka ApolloXI) and I will make it there next year...well we can hope so! Also, $400 or more on airfare for a 3 day weekend is a lot of $$$ to begin with...I think they should look into extending camp again to at least 4 days...and not have special events every night either.

Yep your right and for me its both. I'm unemployed and moved in the last year. Thankfuly for the future though i can drive to huntsville in 4 hours now so no more air fare.

We keep recommending the same thing every year that the camp needs to be 4 days and or cut out some of the ev events. The events cut into the camp too much. Hopefully they will listen next year and hopefully they will get on the ball earlier next year with advertising and announcing the camp earlier.

Yes, ya'll were there in spirit! And I have total faith you will all have jobs soon.

I must agree, 3 days is not enough for any kind of trip, be it a drive or an expensive flight. We have to get it to 4 days at a minimum to make it worth while! I have been a loyal visitor for these alumni weekends so far, but if they do it right, I will enroll too. Die-hard alumni can find the vacation time for a 4 day session just as easily as a 3 day session!

The special events would be more special if they made them one night only.

I'm working on attending the 30th anniversary alumni camp in 2012 and by doing so getting as many of my international camp 1997 and xmas camp 1998 team together. When I was there in 07 we had 20 people over two teams. Looking at pictures from 09 i see it was down to one team of 8 or so? Part of that is definitely due to lack of advertising and since the alumni tend to be adults, since if you are under 18 you can still attend, work also tends to get in the way.

Bill im sorry to hear about the surgery keeping you from camp. I was hoping to see you there for the 30th

Well Kid, if my finances are okay then, you can count on me coming too. I'll be (hopefully) finished with my second degree, master's degree, and CPA exam before then, and finances should get better. Hopefully they listen to us and make the camp longer than a 3-day weekend, because I can't see paying $500 in airfare (and that's today, not in 2012) for a quick weekend.

Yeah, two discs in my neck replaced with ceramic ones, three vertebra fused, a titanium plate, two titanium rods and twelve screws. I could do the missions, but no sims.

On the bright side, I'm officially a cyborg now.
