Thtas right those of you who attended space academy up until 2004 will remember that the current Endeavour simulator is not the original. However now the original is back and will be back in service in 1998. It is currently sitting near its old location by the elevator undergoing renovation. This is according to the new alumni newsletter. According to a friend of mine still at camp Discovery will be undergoing some work as well. Endeavour is being brought back to elp accomodate the growing number of programs the camp offers. Also the camp will be holding a naming contest to rename the original Endeavour. personally i think the original endeavour should keep its name and they should rename the new endeavour but thats just me.

Absolutely! Rename the faux Endeavour. We know which one is the original.
BTW: 2008 not 1998.

Thats what I was thinking. And while they're at it they can put the name back on Enterprise. They took it off when the station was attached.

Just a reminder to send an email to
[email protected] with your suggestions to name the "new" old orbiter that is back on the sims floor! It is a great way for the alumni to get involved!

any specifics on what is being done to these sims to refurbish them? Updated software? New panel switches? or just repainting and cleaning?

Absolutely!!! Sometimes I think we just need to storm the offices and take over. To us, it's a love of the program. To some (not all of them), it's just a job.

Well i sent in the suggestion to first keep The original Eneadvour as Endeavour and rename the other orbiter but said either way i think the new name should be Constitution since it was to be the original name for the real shuttle Enterprise

I also mentioned for them to keep the original name and rename the new one.
My suggestion was Voyageur, the French word for traveller.
I think my second suggestion was Expedition but I didn't know if they already had an ISS module with that name. (So many new modules, I do not know their names yet.)

The deed is done. The original Endeavour will retain it's name. The 'faux' one will once again become 'Intrepid'.

Yay! I voted for this option too. I am guessing a lot of people felt the same. It only makes sense.

Sweet. Now if I had only kept that book that had the original Endeavor's name in it!
Man I am bummed - I wish I had hung on to everything instead of giving it away - though the Shuttle Op Manual was only on loan to a friend, but that was like loaning a tool to a neighbor. All I have left is the group photo with a bunch of goofy looking geeks on it - each and every one trying to look as "professional" as a 13 year old can look.
