She's off the pad now. Successful launch. Beautiful from my view on NASA TV but Vincent will know the nitty gritty details on how 'pretty' it really was in a day or two.

Amazing, just over two months ago I was walking next to Harmony and under Discovery. Now, they are both in space. Wow!

Well i watched it on CNN first HD broadcast of a launch. Though it was hard to see if their was any debris while the SRB's were attached i noticed some definate debris coming off of the lower tank after the seperation at several points. Dint look like anything hit the orbiter and may have been too high to matter but there was definately some shedding. Thankfully it didn't look to be anything huge. Ofcourse there is always some shedding they know that will happen.

I noticed higher quality on the internet feed as well, but maybe that is just me. I also saw the debris shedding but could not tell if any damage resulted.

Off to do some work and then watch more NASA TV... :-)

Well according to space.com preliminary imagry showed 6 instances of foam shedding all far enough into flight so that the orbiter was too high for the foam if it hit to do any significant damage but then tommorows inspection will be the real test of that as will fuirther film review.

It was one of the clearest mornings we've had here in a long time which made me even more mad (that I forgot to watch, not that it was clear).

Really? Then maybe the shuttle decided to fly through the few clouds there were, because I thought it looked a bit cloudy too.

Here's my view from Ocala (around 100 miles away) You can click on the photostream to see the others, or just click the next photo in the box.

Sorry you didn't catch it Jennie, that sucks, because it was a beautiful sky...

The problems with the station solar panel have been fixed but the metal shavings on the rotary joint will have to wait for another time. Shuttle set to land on Wednesday.

She's headed in and may pass just over me. Hopefully we'll be able to hear the sonic booms.
