at camp we had a joke that the canadarm was evil and could be overriden by the canadians (no offense Spacecanada) and be sent to kill the crew of the shuttle. If anyone here was there that week and gets the joke, please let me know. (PS, if you got that, you'll get Susan, the paper cup )

"To treat for shock, grab by the ankles and swing around to force blood to the head."

This dates from a first aid class where the counselor told us to raise a person's feet above their head to treat for shock (in zero-g) and we asked "why?".

kind of like the whole falling down a ladder and breaking you leg (in zero-g) EDM anomaly. If anyone is interested, susan was a paper cup to which we attached two bendy straws (with duct tape, of course) and drew a face on. then we all signed it and made it our mascot. at the end of the week we gave susan to our counselor since it was her last week working at space camp.

dont forget we added hair (with duct tape, of course) to susan!!! and ben highlighted it.

What week doesn't have inside jokes? I could list off so many!

And don't worry too much, the Canadarm only attacks crews who are mean and disrespectful to Canadians. Canadarm2 is much more friendly.

I knew I had a good team if it had an inside joke. Those teams were always the most fun.

Its best when your counselor is in on it

LOL Sometimes, but, sometimes I'd have an inside joke with the team that the night counselor wasn't in on.

thats exactly what happened with our team!

one year we made up a story that the Spacedome was haunted to scare a couple of girls we liked on our team. We got our counciler in on it too. Before the movie started one night, he hid behind the screen wearing a rubber mask and shining a flashlight under his chin. Someone flipped the lights on behind the screen so you could see, and right when i said "look its the ghost! he jumped out with the flashlight and mask. You should have heard the screams! Ah, good times.

one of our big ones was that we were one person short of a typical team of 16 so when we counted off when we got to 16 everyone on the team would yell 16 together. the other teams would all look at us like "what?"

One day on the bus to the lak, we decided to mock the AC kids. Our leader stood up and yelled "Pulsar, on your feet!" we all stood up and said "Yes Ma'am!" She said "What do we say?" and we yelled "Thank you bus driver, sir!" were not sure what everyone else thought of that but it was pretty funny to us.

In the OLD days, there was a "death ray" button attached on L4, just in case the Commander needed it... It wasn't "inside," but it was still fun. Occassionally, we DID have to deploy it...

Of course, there was an Air Force maninkin that somehow ended up in one of the female camper's bed (all lights off after a late ATO). I absolutely have NO IDEA how it got there... but it did have spray-painted "socks" - basically black spray paint up to about the mid-calf... But he DID make it back to his designated post in time for his duty shift in the morning, no worse for the wear!

I was disappointed this year to find out that the shuttle sim position of "Laser Cannon Operator" is not available LOL
