I can't vote, I've only stayed in HabII, but HabI sounds better, with less kids per room, only teammates, and les of a chance of light bandits, and probably less of a channce of a camp wide epidemic, because there are less kids per room, and I remember hearing a kid puke in the bathroom of the Phoenix bay in HabII, and the les kids means less noise, so I have less of a chance of anxiety attacks....,, Now wait, judjing from visiting inside HabI, and the VR, the experiences in HabII, and stories, I think I can vote!

i've only stayed in hab1... but i loved it!

Stayed in Hab 1 all 3 times. In fact, on the same floor in the same vicinity - 310, 308, 317. =)

Funny how some things trigger your memory. Girls on the 4th floor. Boys on the 2nd. 3rd floor split. How could I forget that?!

Consequently, in 1989 girls were in 308, boys in 310. In 1991 when I was there, the boys had 308 and girls were in 310. I don't know if it's that way any more (ie, girls/boys THAT close) but... it was a fun time

They change the rooms depending on the camp numbers. I've always been on the 4th floor. And I always sleep in the same bed - the one over the lockers (not the one across from the door). And you won't necessarily be with just your team. Two times there were girls from 2 different teams, it just depends on numbers.

For Camp (1989) 5 of us were Martin Marietta, 1 was Lockheed. In 1991, we were all BDM. 2003 was Adult camp and the room was half-full, we were all on the same adult team.

But, yep, I remember those mixed rooms.

Although the Lockheed kid was a nice kid, we always treated him as the outsider =)

I stayed in Hab1 on the 4th floor both times. The first time I bunked with a girl that came in the room at the same time that I did...another first time camper. There were 5 of us from the same group in our room. The second time I was in a room with 4 girls from another team and two other girls from my team...best friends from Puerto Rico...that basically kept to themselves. I slept in the bunk over the table or counter or whatever it was in the room. Everyone else also arrived earlier than me since they all flew in, and my mother drove me down.

When I went to adult camp in 1990, I was in room 409. Kinda hard to forget that. When I went back the next summer, for the two weeks of counselor training, I was once again in room 409. Go figure. Then, because we had so many campers that year, the counselors were moved off site to the Executive Lodge over off Sparkman Drive & Executive Drive. Can we say three month party?

haha, i was definitely in the bed across from the door each time... i'll have to go through pics and see if i can find what rooms they were!

As a former counselor, I can't comment on the kids rooms, but from our perspective each has its advantages. For night counselors, Hab II is great--no windows, you can sleep all day, but the trainees can be loud going down the hall. Hab I has window, ok most rooms, but boy are those metal stairs loud.

Well being a counselor living in hab 2 now i can say i'd rather have the windows. Its like living in a cave and you have absolutely no sense iof time in those rooms.

See my sig? Yeah, Hab 1. As a camper at least. I don't know what being a counselor in hab 1 or 2 is like.

I always take the bed over the desk.

In '89 I was placed in Hab II in the Libra sleep bay. Big room of 20-30 campers from various teams including mine (this was when the skunks invaded and got in the air ducts and we had to evacuate because of the smell!).

For my '91 session, I moved up to Hab I, room L3-17 on the third floor. I got the exact same room again when I returned the following year. In 1994, i was in the room next door, L3-19.

I was very lucky not to have to endure that. Do the counselors still patrol the floors/bays until 11 PM?

Windows--- funny thing. I remember really thinking the port holes were funny. You had this red earth just like Mars, the sky is the wrong color though. Also I could see Pathway, which I don't think belongs on Mars, unless they build a museum there.

Nice thing about being a grown up- they don't patrol the halls.

Yes the lights out counselor is sill stationed n the hall each night and does patrol till 11. Then one ounselor on each floor is designated as on call for a week to handle any problems that arise between 11 and 7 actually for this week in hab 2 b deck i'm the one on call. And des if any kids were at camp when you were there as an ault believe me there were nighty patrols they just dont care what the adults are doing unless they are disturing the kids.

...or if they think you are a Space Academy kid breaking curfew...

There was always someone in the halls when I was at camp, usually sitting by the stairs reading a book or listening to music.

They even let us sleep in the hall one night because our room mate was snoring so loud that we could not sleep. Why we waited until 0430 to move out into the hall was beyond us, but at least we got an hour of good sleep out there.

Gee, so I stayed in your room Now, which bed? All 3 times I took the bed over the lockers away from the door - so, the farthest bed away from the door.

I'm sure there were, but I never saw any. I think they put us on the quietest and most remote wing there was. Back in the day, I don't think anybody would have thought about adults bothering kids....
