What's the word on working this summer?

A friend of mine has an interview (in person) with US Space Camp next week!
Summer training is coming up fast too, so get your applications in ASAP!
What a year it would be as a counsellor this summer. With all the 25th Anniversary stuff, it will definitely be a year to remember. (As if anyone could forget working at Space Camp for a summer, but with all the special events going on, this summer could be just a bit more than others.)

Yeah, as far as I can tell my app's in. You just sort of... finish it. I didn't actually see a submit button anywhere.
Yeah, working this summer specifically would be really, really cool. I have this image in my mind of leading a team around and running into Shatner on a tour of the museum, which would be awesome. (I assume he'd want to take a tour of the place since he's there for the event, but who knows...)

The less time spent in Orion Bay, the better.
So, good news, apparently I got my app in on time and they should be calling me some time this week.
I'm a little worried about the 60 hours thing... I'm about to finish my fourth semester, but due to lack of a lab period this semester I might only have 57... I have been in four 3-hour courses each semester, plus I took 3-hour labs for the first three semesters but not this semester.
Oh wait... totally forgot that I had two days of lab per week last semester, so I guess I just cut it. Then again, our system doesn't actually work by hours, but man, I'm glad I barely made that cut.

WORD OF WARING
The USSRC HR is only hiring this summer for new recruits to fill in AC. There are no positions available for us newbies at SC. If you are former SC instructor you can get a job as a SC instructor.
I was told all this by the HR staff.

If you really want to work at camp you need to get hired during January when they do the first hirings for the year. Summer hirings only happen if they do not hold onto all of the spring staff. I was told this by HR when I was looking into working at camp last summer. Because I would need a work visa it would only be possible for me start work in January. (I may still look into this as I graduate December 2008 and would be available in January)

Oddly, they called me today to schedule an interview... the interview is on May 2... they didn't say anything about not hiring... though they might just be doing AC and will be telling me that when they actually call.
I just had a dream that I was on the job and had to make all the kids go to bed and turn the lights out and all that good stuff.

AC rocks my socks... Maybe you should give it a try. I've been to Space Camp, Academy, Adult Academy, and did AC tons of times... There are some counselors who were cross overs from Space Camp (Pyro comes to mind)... Maybe you'll like it.

I got my app in the second day they were up, but didn't get my phone interview till yesterday. It's been a while since I posted here, but I worked in 2004 at SC. I think this summer I'll be at AC, which I'm TOTALLY pumped about. I was always jealous of the AC counselors.
Good luck to everyone else! I hope it works out for everyone.

There's nothing beyond the sky. The sky just is, and it goes on and on, and we play all our games beneath it.
I put in an application for the counselor 1 position. I know its not a team counselor but its a similar job to what i do now and it seems like one i would enjoy.
