OV-101 Enterprise at MSFC?

Post by Hotdog »

During my first tour of the Marshall Space Flight Center/Redstone Arsenal in 1987 i remember our bus driver telling us about a hangar containing the shuttle Enterprise had once been a stop on the tour prior to my visit. However, in my online research into the history of the Enterprise I have found no information about OV-101 being at Marshall in the 1980's. Can anyone confirm this? Spanky?

I know about the vibration tests of the late '70s that went on at Marshall but I don't think he was talking about that far back. I even remember the building where he told us Enterprise was kept.[/url]

.they may have meant a tour stp in the 70s. However keep in mind that post challenger aslot of testing was going on thats a possibility. If you want to really see some neat pictures find the ones of Enterprise at Vanderberg in 85. Its one of the rare times you ever saw Enterprise sitting on a full stack on a launch pad. Granted it was only for testing the equipment at vanderberg but the Air Force even used the picture as a recruiting poster at one time.

yeah there is this great website called Space Hardware or something like that, i was looking at it last week, it had some awesome photos of the Vandenberg "Slick 6" launch site with Enterprise stacked on it. That launch site has some pretty neat history to it...
