Mission tapes

Hey guys
Did you know that all your missions are taped and can be copied? Well that’s one of the two meanings of the camera one in MOCR, Mid Deck, Flight deck, space Hab, the EVA camera and the ISS camera.
The other is of course to provide views to MOCR.
I know this because the staff told me when I was there in September 06 that the unneeded support staff would be taping the missions and I have a copy of Alpha, Bravo and EDM.
The recording room is behind the black glass area near the cafeteria.

Take this as you may,

Andy

I wish I had copies of our missions... They had handheld video cameras during adult 8-day to record things too but we never got copies of that footage either. :-(

That would be cool. Though i on't have any full mission tapes i do have videos from my first 2 years at camp back when they offered team videos for camp and academy programs. It shows the team doing the mat, 5df, 16th chiar, pool activities, and highlights of the mission on both tape. The camp tape also shows us trying on space suits and doing a presentation on the large space structure we had to build as well as our rocket launch. The mission sextion shows briefly activities in all area of the mission uncluding sockpit, mid dieck or space lab depending ion the year and mission, eva, space station for academy, and mocr. Its brief but its still cool.

I got a short video of my 24hour mission from the first 8 day team back in 2004. It also includes the Time for Courage music video and a couple other videos as well.

I would love a video of my 1992 Discovery mission where I landed the orbiter with no landing gear!

I think that was the same discoverey I flew in earlier this year a commander, everyone was yelling, and my friend from russia said "what the he**?" It looked boxy on the outside. they said it used to have hydralics but it broke. THe script was annoying. Its probably for people who dont know all the astronaut terms. I actually was the only one who knew the astronaut terms. I think my day counselor thought I should get right stuff. I want to bring my camcorder next year and make a movie of it. And guess what the music will be!

It is the same discovery. That smulator has been around for a long time. I didnt get to use it the year i was at academy i was on endeavur and worked MOCR for discovery. Back then the hydraulics still worked. Was kind of cool for the cockpit to tilt back for launch. This was the old endeavour ofcourse not the new one. It looked alot like the Discovery cockpit on the outside atleast minus the cargo bay and space lab module.

Ironicly i got to fly on both missions the year i flew Discovery and the (old) Endeavour. I was one of the lucky few who, instead of getting stuck with a MOCR position for one of the missions, got a role on the Space Station. So, I got to tag along with the Endeavour crew for what was essentially a cosmic cab ride to work, sitting in the back with the Payload and Mission Specialists. It was only the first or second year for the Endeavour simulator so it was the cool new thing at that time and a fun mission!

Oh man, I wish I had a mission tape for the 24 hour EDM. Especially of, oh, you know, our orbiter blowing up, and switching to Disco-er, a Buran.

We had some video cameras, too, and stuff that was supposed to be edited and sent to us. Never happened, though.

As far as I know Danner has all of the footage but lacks the resources to edit it...

I wish I had video of our 24-hour EDM too. Sadly though, I e-mailed camp shortly after our week and they wouldn't send me the footage from the DV-cam, not even the raw stuff.

How far back in time does the archive of footage go?
