So... I came across this slideshow of pictures the other day. I wasn't originally going to post it, for fear of spoiling the surprise for some, but Vincent said these items are so large they would be hard to miss anyway... and not to mention the chain link fence is see-through, so here it is:

The new Area 51 looks wickedly awesome! I'd volunteer to climb and jump several times over and over if I could!

Enjoy!

It's near AC, it's like right down the street a little ways, a little bit past the rocket launch through that trail thing. I don't know if you have any idea what i'm talking about lol. The programs that use it are, ASA and Mach 3, i think mach 2 might use it also, and maybe just SA, but i'm not positive. You only get to do the low ropes course thogh, unless you're in AC or go for 13 day ASA i believe.

All I will say is lawsuit waiting to happen. How long until an alcoholically fueled off duty counselor climb up there and breaks their neck?

Yeah, like i said you only get to use the low ropes course, which is the same as teh old stuff. Unless you go for 13 days, that's all you get to do.

i don't see the point of building a new low ropes course, because it was the same as the old.

They built it because they're not using the old one anymore, they're tearing ti down to put the saturn 5 there.

But... the Saturn V is not going there any more... it is going beside the stacked (standing) Saturn V by SpaceShot.

Change is nice though, and the new low ropes course, without a doubt, is as fun or more than the old one!

they're building a brand new building behind where the saturn 5 is right now to house it in. they relocated the area 51 because there was no shade in the old one and no room to expand

There is NO plans to build where the Saturn V currently rests. The Saturn V is being moved to the west parking lot where it will be housed in a new building.

Oh, well I don't know what I'm talking about. I only drive by the big gapping hole where the west parking lot used to be and the sign showing the new building and the construction equipment every flipping day.

What is "behind," really mean? Does a Saturn V have a front or back? It has a top and bottom, sure, but a front and back?

Further, if I am standing on the far side of the Saturn V, is the West parking lot not behind it?

Or, the Saturn V replica...it's going behind that (if it has a "behind").

Either way, you can see the dig site on the Saturn V webcam. I never thought I could see so much red dirt in one place! It is so mesmerising... especially compared to all the grey and black clay we get around here.
